The video of the kid isn't even close to the same thing as the hit on Clifton Smith. The kid threw a block at a defender who was looking at him and was prepared to take the hit. Sure it was a hard hit, but it wasn't a cheap shot.

While agree that hits like this happen somewhat often but the severity of this hit was much worse than most. My feeling is if he spears him early or just gives him a shoulder check its just another early hit in football. Its when you LAUNCH yourself at a guys HEAD that I think it crosses the line. From what I've read, Smith was unconscious for over a minute and had a concussion. I just felt it was a little more than the typical hit.

I Dont Think The Hit Was That Bad And I Dont Think An Ejection Was Fair. If He Would Of Hit Him With His Helmet I Would Of Been Ok With It But He Clearly Hit Him With His Shoulders. Ive Seen Far Worse Over The Middle Hits And No Ejection. He Led With His Shoulders and Didnt Even Launch Himself

How anyone on here or elsewhere can defend this hit is a true tragedy.

Hits like this DO NOT happen all the time. I can remember 2 other hits that were so out of this world that it ticked me off to the point that i had to hit a punching bag.... 1. Haynesworth's face stomp & 2. warren sapps spear on a defenseless o-line guy.

He clearly knew he didnt have the ball and he saw the fair catch... then to top it off instead of just tackling him he jumped to hit him squarely in the head.

Over the top brutality. Goodell needs to make an example of this clown and ban him for a while a la pacman jones
