Here are a few that I have gotten over the last year that were relatively smooth mailings (all info is in the TTM Database): Dick Williams ($25 c/o Nevada address), Red Schoendienst ($15 c/o Missouri address), Whitey Ford (c/o Ft. Lauderdale address), and then Steve Carlton through the website mentioned above in other posts.
I also got a few future HOFers like Tony LaRussa & Randy Johnson.
I see you bought Jim Palmer, Orlando Cepeda, & Harmon Killebrew. Were those private sales like from eBay or specifically from those players? Also, have you seen successes for Frank Robinson c/o the Commissioner's Office? Or is that just an attempt? I hope it's successful because I need Robinson, too.

Today I ended up sending to Yogi Berra. IDK why but it struck me at about 11:00am and thats the route I went this week. I sincerely appreciate the input from everybody.
I sent Robinson c/o Commissioner's Office on my own personal whim. I know in April/May(I forget) he was brought back into the commish's office although he works mostly out of Arizona I believe. I figured it was worth a shot in the dark as I have never seen such a request on any of the sites I frequent that maybe it'd get through. Time will tell.
I bought my Jim Palmer and Brooks Robinson(Rawlings Official Gold Glove Ball signed and inscribed '16x Gold Glove') off of the Bob Feller Museum website since they had alright prices and a 19% off sale for Sept and Oct. The Brooks Robinson ball I ended up paying a grand total of $57 which for that was a steal in my mind for the special ball and inscription considering a plain ROMLB is $15, Robinson's ttm fee is $35 and the inscription fee is $15(I think) plus shipping costs.
I mentioned it elsewhere on the site but I only live 1-2hrs away from Cooperstown. About a month or so ago I went to "Character and Courage Day" and was bombing around the stores. I was looking for an affordable Fergie Jenkins ball and one of the bigger auto shops was out and the lady sent me across the street to a small restaurant on Main Street called T.J.'s Place. I got a Cepeda, Perry+ HOF inscription, and a Jenkins + HOF inscription for $25 each and the Killebrew for $50. They came with the place's COA's and a guarantee to pass any of the big authentication companies. The prices were right, the place checked out, and the sigs looked legit. Each of the auto shops had their own little quirky deals. Going in the off season was great since it actually gave me a chance to find the best deals unlike when I went in July and it was impossible.Last edited by Sawks14; 11-04-2009 at 10:26 PM.

I was really close to sending to Whitey Ford but have seen a handful of odd things from him. Rockiesfan's botched custom, returned balls and fees, and I have even seen people simply receiving their items back unsigned and found he kept the fee they sent. Of course these occurrences are a severe minority.
Anybody have any advice/experience with Mr. Ford? Its one I would certainly like to get eventually.

I was floored when I spotted them. The older lady that cashed me out and got all my paperwork in order was like "You just got some really good buys". It is definitely going to be the first place I hit up when I go back probably in a couple of months. The thing I regret most though is they had a $70 Warren Spahn + HOF inscription that was a strong sig and simply awesome but I had just seen Killebrew speak at the day's event and really wanted his sig. Elsewhere in town Spahn was going for around $150.
Now I wish I didn't send Yogi so I could take a ride up there this weekend lol.

I'd say Ford is a very good signer. He did hose me on my custom a while back, but that's the third sig I've received from him TTMM. The others were all great.

I don't mean to push this thread much longer but I am wondering if somebody with more know how can give me some help. On SCN a few weeks ago I noticed a Billy Williams success c/o home in 7 days for a $20 fee so I sent a ball, letter, SASE and $20. I am just curious if somebody with premium access over there or just more general knowledge can give me any info on Billy Williams ttm history. I had heard he was awesome then stopped cold turkey a few years back then spotted the previously mentioned success.
Thanks.

Thanks, I sent out three that day Williams, Earl Weaver, and Phil Niekro...I guess two out of three isnt horrid and who knows I might get lucky.
Again, thank you. Of the no-gos is there any mention of him returning cash/items or they just went through the big ttm Bermuda triangle in the sky?Last edited by Sawks14; 11-06-2009 at 01:15 AM.
