Not letting them impose their beliefs on me does not count as me imposing my beliefs on them. And I'm really sick of this "blame the people, not the religion" excuse. You should know better. It was Christianity that put the desire to commit atrocities in people's minds, where it did not exist before. It's the Bible that commands you to go around to neighboring towns and villages where the Christian god is not worshiped, burn them down and kill everyone inside. It's the Bible that teaches that human life has no value, that this life is meaningless and worthless and the sooner it ends the better. It's the Bible that commands you to hate your family and yourself. It's the Bible that commands you to just drop everything and become a mindless slave for the church. How can you not recognize that the religion deserves the blame for what it drives people to do?

You're always asking people to prove things. Now it's your turn. Show me where.

By the way, people do terrible things with or without religion. How can you say that Christianity drives people to do these things?
To those people, Christianity is a free pass. They can just slap the "God told me" on it and go on with their own selfish plot. It has nothing to do with their so called beliefs. They are blindly ignoring them.
If you think that any teachings in the Bible drive its followers to commit the atrocities you speak of, please actually read the Bible. Not the Bible as interpreted through an Anti-Christian website. Read the actual Bible and see for yourself what it says.

    Deuteronomy 13:13-19, that's where.

Because I've seen once-decent people warped and stunted and corrupted into mindless killing machines by Christianity. I've seen the transformation occur before my very eyes. And yes, I have read the actual Bible.

    Deuteronomy 13:13-19, that's where.

The book of Deuteronomy is the law spoken by Moses to the Israelite people entering into the promised land. These were God's chosen people. He wasn't talking about going into other nations or to other people and killing them.
It clearly states in Deut. 13:5, " You must purge the evil from among you." This was to prevent division among God's people and prevent corruption from WITHIN. I did not see a "go unto" or any command to go burn villages of other peoples.
I know you can try to distort the scriptures, but a careful read of WHO he was talking to and WHAT he said should be taken into consideration before using it in an argument.
I know it is easy to take things out of context just to fit an argument, but it doesn't really do your argument justice when you have to resort to that.

And I know this seems harsh. Pretend for a minute that you believe in God. Ok, so if God exists he created the entire universe. Always has been and always will be. All powerful, all knowing.
Who would we (humans) be to question his ways. I suppose if He created us, he has the right to take that life.
Your entire argument basically boils down to it not being fair for you (and your fellow atheists). I'm sorry to break it to you, but you did not create the universe or anything in it. There's many Christians who think they're not treated fairly either. As much as you may think so, you are not a victim.
It takes a true humble spirit to accept the teachings of the Bible and to accept Jesus. It's so hard because we want to believe that we're more than we are.
People get caught up with the notion that God is supposed to be tolerant. It doesn't say that in the Bible anywhere. In fact, He is a jealous God. Jealous enough to remove distractions from His people's lives.
You might say, "The Bible says that God is merciful! How is killing people merciful????"
Great question. He hasn't killed you yet and you oppose him. I suppose that's as good as mercy gets
I don't pretend to be all understanding, but I don't question a God that has the power to speak worlds into being.
