I called about one of my redemptions a couple of weeks ago, apparently only supervisors are allowed to fulfill replacements and they do one sport at a time, granted probably not the most efficient way but that's what I was told. And to be honest I don't see anything unproffesional in the letter other than maybe you don't like the answer. But good luck with the redemption either way.

you could also blame the athletes who dont return their sticker sheets or cards....someone suggested before that the company should just arrange with the NBA to have a rep or two at specific games getting people to fulfill their contracts...guess I can't fully blame any of the companies....

Agree with above! Nothing too unprofessional aside from the poor punctuations and spelling in UD's email, but of course we're lazy with the email sometimes. At least he replied to you so that's nice =)

Wrote in to UD to inquire about a redemption put in 2008 for a dual auto of Sean May/Okafor.
Kept sending emails, no response. Kept asking for a change, called, said to wait, being processed.

last week, sent an email saying I will take anything at all....

    got this response today

    "Unfortunately you have to wait.
I'm processing Baseball replacements right now and I'm hoping i can get to basketball before the holiday break but I can't guarentee that I will be able to. I'll try to get them exchanged before then but we are closed from the 24th thru the 3rd.
I will start back replacing cards on the 4th of January.

UD is cutting staff right now to try and get their financial business in order. It's likely they only have one person working replacements, and he's using the most efficient system he can.

i don't think upper deck realizes what they're doing. make enough people angry about your customer service, and it hurts sales. granted, they kind of have a monopoly on sports cards, but if they keep doing this brands like topps and panini are going to build up more of a following.
i'm waiting on the same thing..... except they all together left cards guaranteed in my box out. these are lettermen cards (upper deck versions) so I definately want them, and looks like they just make excuses so they won't have to deal with you short hand.
Sorry for their lack of "customer care"....... i think people should be reimbursed for their wait (especially after a year) just like a bank would charge interest.

"Frankly there are just too many redemption submissions. Our athletes are given a time frame to finish their obligations to upper deck and we just have to wait and so does the customer. we wish we did not have to do this but thats what is happening.
as for your earlier redemption, the value of the cards is set by us. if a certain player has played well or is playing well is beyond our concern, if we feel that the replacement we are giving you is of equal value, then we will send that out. our customer service rep has submitted your request for a change of what we sent as a replacement, I will have to ask you then to send the replacement back in but the wait might be even longer. For now, I will try my best to finish off what I have at the moment and possibly get to basketball, but do note, I will have to attend to the companie's higher end items. I also have to fulfill our football obligations since they are our main priority after baseball.
and to let you know, your Sean May/Emakor Okafor redmeption is still pending as we seem to have run out of the actual card and it will need to be produced, and that should be by the end of 2010.
sorry again, but you will have to wait.

....hmm? so to UD, Earl Waton/Keyon Dooling is as good as Mo Williams/Rajon Rondo, could explain their horrific player pairing in some of 09/10 SPGU....

SP Game Used and SP Signature were "get rid of everything we have left" products. Why should they keep auto stickers of any NBA player in stock if they are no longer producing basketball cards?

Besides... SPGU is SP "Game Used". That product was not about autographs. It was about multi-gu, multi-patch, with the big hits being the multi-tag cards.

They should release their own price guide.

Give the guy credit, though. At least you have dialogue with UD. They could just ignore your email.

I hope the companies realize how much money they lose with redemptions. Hiring on additional employees for something that's totally avoidable doesn't make good business sense to me. If the player/players can't sign, then just destroy the cards and update the checklist. If collectors don't know a particular card was supposed to be produced, they won't get upset when their redemption is replaced.
