Since when do we trade base at book value?

I just got an offer for a GU card that BV at 25, the guy offered me 9 Crosby base cards for it that booked about 32 total. Since when does base cards get trade at book value? I was stunned by this offer.

My question is this: is it fair to trade superstar base cards at full BV, no matter the set?

There's no harm in asking. You do have base listed in your signature as a want. Worse thing someone can do is say no.

i agree, there is no harm in asking, plus crosby is very desirable and in ur sig so maybe he figured u might do it...i'd probably be pretty ticked about an offer like that but u can always say no.

Depends upon the set as well. If you are talking about ITG Ultimate, The Cup, UD Ultimate, all high end sets I can see those cards trading at full book.

Many many times I have traded jsys for base. Corse most of the base I get offered is for my wantlist. It all boils down to your trading preferences

Well duh haha if it was a high-end set that is different, I was offered UD Victory and Series 1 base cards. The lowest of the low.

And yea you can offer, but jagrnyr, I'll offer you 100 Callahan base cards at .50 a piece for a 30 BV GU. I mean we all could offer just because you collect someone in your signature. Why didn't the guy offer me Enstrom or Pavelec base cards for me? Just because it is Crosby it warrents a full BV?

I have too, but when someone wants a Lundqvist jersey card and offers me base, that is totally different then trading 3 no name jersey cards. I've traded jsy for base before, but it was a ton of base, and my low-end GU.

i was just saying that crosby is desirable so thats one reason PLUS he's in ur signature so maybe he thought that u really wanted crosby base/inserts, idk....point is u can say no and move on. i've had a few people offer 10-15 cards for my ovechkin yg but i just say no, it's not FT.

If anyone wants to knock off 30$ worth of base from my want list for a GU then I might be inclined to make the trade. There are a bunch of variables, what base cards they are, what the GU is, and what the traders preferences are.

I think in general people might have a hard time trading 30$ bv of early 90s stuff for a 30$ GU. There are more people who would consider 30$ BV of present day commons for a 30$ GU.

I guess its fair to trade anything that the two parties can agree upon. I hate base and will give it away for free if someone wants to pay for shipping.

I throw all my base, even the high end stuff, and low buck inserts into a 5000 card box and donate to the local childern's hospital when it gets full.
