I really agree with a few other posts on here: If you're trading based on BV for the GU, I don't see why the Base cards shouldn't also get their BVs taken into account.

There is something to be said for "trading down" though. I certainly agree that a $25 card, and 25 cards that are each worth $1 are not the same thing. Many people won't do trades like that, and I can't blame them. However..... if you're moving a card you don't particularly care about, and getting 25 that you actually want for it (and not taking 'bait' but thing that will actually go into a PC) then I think you are making a worth while deal. At least that's something I'd be willing to do.

The answer to the question, as others have said, is that it's up to you to work out an acceptable trade. Say no as you've done if you're not happy doing it. The person making the offer has the right to try, especially if he offered or tried to offer you cards from your want list. There are SO MANY GU CARDS these days that many jersey cards seem like commons... Times have changed. I remember collecting a decade ago and finding that elusive jersey card was magic...now it's often ho hum unless it's something low numbered, rare, multi-colored or uniquely designed or serial numbered (ie. #1 in a series or a player's jersey number). It's often hard to track down base cards because some people don't keep them anymore or they're not interested in tracking them down...so oddly enough if you're trying to build a set, you may have to offer a higher BV to entice someone to fill the holes in your set.

As many have said if your getting stuff if you want or can use why not. I know a guy that will trade game used for base as I done it myself when heading to shows. What is better from a seller perspective 25 cards that are low value or a mid game used card.

As look at the odds what do I have a better chance of moving 25 cards or 1 cards. Odds are the with the bigger lot. Also, if you have cheaply priced cards versus a mid end card most folks will spend on cheap cards before they put out some bigger dollars for a card. I mean just like the THE CUP everyone wants them but how many of us actually buy boxes of it compare to the other brands that are more reasonably priced for our budget.

p.s. I don't see why people get upset with it JUST SAT NO AND MOVE ON!!!
