    Toronto is NOT done

I'm not an expert nor do I have any reliable sources but you look at what the leafs just did and theres no way they're done. They just traded away almost all their scoring. They MUST get some scoring back today or the deals they have made will be completely pointless. I can't speculate on who they are targeting but I hope they take Froloaf from LA

Well, the scoring that they traded away can hopefully be countered by the defensive players they picked up. Frolov would look nice in a Leafs jersey though.

You can't win games if you can't score goals. Toronto looks like they're going to score 1-2 goals max per game right now. they will be a VERY easy team to shut down offensively because they just don't have much left. they NEED offense

I can picture more moves. Burke apparently said he's still not done. Hoever, I hope to goodness we don't land Frolov. By losing more players than we received, this also gives more opportunities for our young guys in the last few games this year.

The moves Burke just made were not made for next year. He expects a run at the playoffs THIS year, which will not happen. And we will give you Froloaf, Purcell, and Jones for practically nothing. They all are atrocious NHLers

That's true...you do need goals to win, but if the defense tightens up (and I mean, really tightens up) enough, 1 or 2 goals might be all they need on some nights.

Giguere is a good goalie that can win games by himself...as we've all seen before. With Phaneuf coming in and Sjostrom getting time on the PK, the defense should get better. Also, Kessel can score, Phaneuf can hammer them home, Ponikarovsky is on pace for a career year, and Grabovski is coming back soon. Also, look for the younger players to get more ice time in the coming games to show what they can do.

Call me a mega optimist, but I'm a Leafs fan...that's all I have.

we can now have stalberg, hanson and rosehill up full time and they wont have to look over thier shoulder to see when they are getting sent down. Actually i have heard the same thing though apparently they are talking to la and chi about another deal today. Rumor has it that they will take bad contracts back for picks and prospects and just bury the contracts in the ahl.

i don't agree - i think burke's moves were 100% for next year and beyond.

he was losing stajan, hagman and mayers anyway so in essence he just traded ian white for dion phaneuf. then he took on giguere's salary in hopes he will get it together and be the #1 next year and give gustavsson some time to develop.

yes, he loses scoring for this year but this year is lost anyway. now he can play some kids up front and give them some experience and he's tightened up the back end with phaneuf who will be his cornerstone d-man (pronger) for his tough/gritty team.

he has his game breaker (kessel), now he needs someone to get him the puck (offer sheet to backstrom maybe?). hagman isn't a 30 goal guy - he's having a good year but he's getting a lot of PP time. he's a 2nd-3rd line guy and burke got more value than that from him. stajan is the same (2nd/3rd), mayers is disgruntled so he needed to go. the only value he really gives up is white but you trade white for phaneuf all day.

blake isn't worth what he's making and toskala is a waste, so it's worth trying to see if giguere can get his mojo back and take the pressure off gustavsson.

i think burke make two very good trades for the future of the leafs. i don't really like the guy but he took advantage of a pannicked Calgary team and got a franchise d-man (who i don't like either) for nothing.

btw, they did bring in a bad contract - giguere. $7M/year is a bad contract. not sure how much more room they have now. and i'm not sure what other pieces he has to move.

btw, did he get the first round pick from anaheim?

You are right about the trades but actually white is an rfa at years end and would have gotten a decen raise. But Hagman was signed for 2 more years at 3 million per

Also we didnt get the first but we GOT RID OF BLAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH HAPPY DAY!!!!
