This is what I was talking about in my last post...you need to be happy with who you are...you are you, and you are you for a reason...and you need to believe that. You should be happy with who you are and what you've become - noone is going to be the "perfect" person, and negative self-talk isn't going to make you a "perfect" person. The only thing that negative self-talk will do is make you a miserable person, and have the "everything sucks" mentality eventually.
I'm not trying to be hard on you, or anything like that...and I hope you don't feel like I am either...I'm just attempting to help you how I am feel I am able to.

I understand, but keep in mind that I'm 25 and the only jobs I've had have ended up with me either quitting or getting fired.
Maybe some other things I've overstated, but it isn't an exaggeration to say that I don't generally know what to do outside an academic setting. And that's why I think I have to go back there, because that's the one place I feel comfortable. Any other kind of working environment isn't something I want to risk further; I can't afford for more firings to accumulate in my track record.

Yeah, I understand that...but, you are still young, and can still find something long-term that will be good for you, and something that you'll enjoy. Going back to school sounds like something that would work for you, but also something that you'd like. Doing that, maybe you'll find some other opportunity that you haven't thought of yet, for a career...there are many, many options out there, and there's always something that works for each person - sometimes it just takes a little more digging.
But, you do need to stop the negative self-talk...and I think you know that too...it doesn't do you any good, and doesn't make your situation any better...I know from experience for myself, and my family. Try to look at the positives instead of the negatives...while anyone's situation could almost always be 100x better, it could also be 100x worse.

Sorry to hear about this Khendra. Unfortunately, people that enjoy their jobs are in the minority. I've never met anyone that likes their job 100% of the time.
There are many teaching scholarships and grants out there... And one of the schools might need a basketball coach.
Either way, I hope you find something soon.

Thanks.
At this point, I really don't care too much if I like my job - I just want to be good enough at it so I'm not fired (last job) or compelled to quit because I'm about to get fired (job before that).
I went to voc rehab today after a hotline recommendation to see if they could help in some way (I'm still having some depressive problems). Not sure why I was referred there because they only deal with people who have documented disabilities, but the lady I spoke with at that place told me to try the local career center (I already have; prior to my previous job, I went there and they struggled trying to match my skills and background with actual real world jobs), the local newspaper (I've applied there numerous times; I had one interview, but I wasn't hired), and the psychiatric center in town (I tried their appointment number today, but they are completely booked).
I guess I just have to wait until signups for the next school semester so I can try teaching. Nothing else is working.

Thanks, Rory. I'm feeling better the last couple of days; I have a great support system and feel ready to move on and see what else is out there. It may take awhile, but I'll do what it takes. :)
