I don't get it...
Why do people even buy trilogy? I look at all the breaks and aside from pulling a crosby auto, I've felt like every box is crap. It's filled with scrub autos, GU that seems to be worthless unless its a superstar player, and just nothing appealing to me. I don't get why so many people drop so much money on this product. Can someone enlighten me as to why people buy Trilogy?

It's a mystery of life... The Ice Scripts/Combos are the only good thing Trilogy has to offer, for the price point it's an awful value.

You are ABSOLUTLEY RIGHT!!!! I allways thought that about this product!
Until last week, I never spent a dime on this stuff and last weke I proved why...I was at the LCS and there were three packs left, so I bought two of them. Before I opened, the owner said there was nothing opened worth a darn so I should get something nice...
cam neely jersey card and a steve shutt auto both BV @ $15 each.
This is what is upsetting me about supporting buying wax anymore and UpperDeck in general. They charge HUGE money for their high end products (even mid end now), and its DILUTED with sub-par autos and not even to mention the un-stellar quality of the cards these days.
Its time for ITG and others to be given a fair shake in the market...If everyone ony had a Toyota to drive, we'd all be stuck at home now ;)
competetion means innovation, quality, cutomer satisfation, and diversity for all.

Have my Chroney RC on the way..... and still trying to hunt down an Oilers vs Stars 'Classic Confrontations' GU. After that, I've spent all on Trilogy that I'm going to this year :)

yeah, the biggest thing as two of you mentioned is the autos, most of the Superstar Script players are going to be lifetime 2nd or 3rd liners at best, and alot of the youngstar scripts are a bit brutal as well.
basically to get your money back for the most part, you need a case hit, and it has to be a beauty of a case hit.
I love the Ice Scripts set dont get me wrong, its always one of the nicest looking auto'd sets out there, but still, for 175$ a box, i'd rather pick up the ones i like for squat:
9$ for Schenn

1$ for Pogge

Any boxes i buy are going to be bang for your buck, and of course, its ITG such as H&P. 80% of the boxes broke here are pulling /6's, /3's or 1/1s it seems. That might be exaggerated a bit, but u catch my drift

With Trilogy its the gamble that you will get a clearcut combo, triple, or quad. The thing that offsets it is the price tag. I bought 4 packs of trilogy over a box of ITG...the way that I saw it was I could risk it and pull a combo or confrontation card or I could risk it and pull 2 autos and 2 jersey cards of players that could be nobodys in the future or possible superstars. I lucked out and pulled a clearcut combo and a kane/toews linemates /50...I'll take that anyday of the week over a box of ITG.
Its all about the gamble and hoping for the best. With a product like ITG, you know exactly what you are going to get. Even though ITG might have low numbering, it is just because there a MILLION variations of these cards lingering around...some people just like rolling the dice a little instead of being safe.Last edited by mxaxtxtx; 02-11-2010 at 03:06 PM.

i dont get it either i opened my only 5 packs in 07-08. $125 later i had a regular jersey of hasek, regular jersey of modano and 3 no name rookies (steve wagner, ryan carter and torrey mitchell all /999 as well). After that no mopre for me.
All they have going is the ice scripts they got rid of the patches and the personal scripts which were cool though.

People got baited in back in 03-04 when Trilogy was an amazing rip. Creatures of habit just keep ripping even though the content now sucks chocolate salty balls.

its not at all actually. I watched 18 box breaks live the first night and they had 16 cards /10 or less. You arent far off.

Does it drive anyone else nuts though that ITG doesn't actually number their card? I mean, I am not saying they print more than they say, but how can you really keep track with no actual numbering?
