Yes and Yes...Trilogy sucks...my LCS owner busted open some packs and yikes...bad...and from what I have seen here, I am steering clear. Got my Myers here from a break for $, and any Millers that pop up, I will just trade for. Also iritated about no numbers /9, /40, etc...on ITG, but that is ok.. Great products. I deal with it.

well, there are some amazing cards in this product that are very nice and some people hope to get lucky.
For example, at my LCS, the store owner opened up a couple boxes and in one pack he got 2 1-2-3-4 autos, so sometimes it could be worth it but I do understand that the chances arent high

Is buying Trilogy any different then buying UD Black or any high end product? It's a risk most of us take looking for that "Holy Grail" of cards. There are lots of reasons people open all the products that come out, trade bait, cards for the PC, building sets and don't forget to make $$$$$$$. Or maybe they open it just for love of the Hobby.
Me personally, I would rather open a box of Trilogy than spend the same amount of money or more on opening a pack with 4 cards in it.

Even if you hit a Tavares from this set, it's not going to book for more than $120, which is completely out of whack given the set's price point. The "holy grail" isn't the RC, if anything it's the Clear Cut Combos, most of which will likely end up being redemptions. Look at a Crosby or Ovy Trilogy RC - doesn't go for that much relative to a card that comes in a much less expensive set and isn't numbered, does it? When you think that the big rookies of 07-08 go for less than their counterpart YGs, it really makes you wonder. I've been advocating for a long time now to blend the best elements of Trilogy (basically, the Ice Scripts & Clear Cut Combo Autographs) into another set, be it Ice or Black Diamond or Black.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Not a big deal seeing as I LOVE ITG and feel UD is usually just crap, even though I continue to pay for it (not trilogy though)

I bought a box of 08-09 Trilogy last year and I pulled a Sidney Crosby 3rd Star Scripted Swatches /100. It was the gem of the box. If I sold it I wouldn't make my money back on it.
The rest of the box sucked on top of that.
The print runs on the "hits" are far too high, which is stupid considering the cost of the product.
I will never buy another box of Trilogy...a couple of packs here and there is OK though.

I think it depends what you are opening the box for...If its me and Im looking to go after "solid base rookies" Ill stick with just plain old UD...Year in and Year out there Young Guns cards keep their value and for what a box of that can be had for Im okay buying a few of them a year...Products like the Cup,Black,OPC Premier and yeah even Sweet Shots have their place in the hobby too... Alot of collectors are in it for just the "hits" and sometimes its nice just to open a product and get all your hits in 1 or 2 shots rather then having the same result with more packs...But 120-180 base cards too.. Personally I stay away from products like ITG as I just simply dont understand it... How can a card be #d 3/9 or 1/1 if their are many different varations of the same card? I mean in that case EVERY JERSEY OR AUTO card I have is #d 1/1 cuz nobody else has THAT SAME EXACT SWATCH OR JERSEY PIECE THAT I DO! just some food for thought, take it for what its worth... ;)

I completely agree. Everyone has been so up on ITG for the low numbered parallels, but NOTHING sets apart the card that is /100 from the card that is /1 except that ITG marks the card as the "gold" version and maybe changes the lettering. The patches are practically identical.
