I think it depends what you are opening the box for...If its me and Im looking to go after "solid base rookies" Ill stick with just plain old UD...Year in and Year out there Young Guns cards keep their value and for what a box of that can be had for Im okay buying a few of them a year...Products like the Cup,Black,OPC Premier and yeah even Sweet Shots have their place in the hobby too... Alot of collectors are in it for just the "hits" and sometimes its nice just to open a product and get all your hits in 1 or 2 shots rather then having the same result with more packs...But 120-180 base cards too.. Personally I stay away from products like ITG as I just simply dont understand it... How can a card be #d 3/9 or 1/1 if their are many different varations of the same card? I mean in that case EVERY JERSEY OR AUTO card I have is #d 1/1 cuz nobody else has THAT SAME EXACT SWATCH OR JERSEY PIECE THAT I DO! just some food for thought, take it for what its worth... ;)

I get your point but Ud does the EXACT same thing. Ever bought artifacts? i have every steen card from it except 1/1's he has 4 different cards (treasured swatches, base, tundra tandems w/ sundin, tundra trios)
yet there are 32 different variations. From the base, treasured swatches and tundra tandems there are 30 different cards with the exact same 3 pictures

I pulled a Carey Price Honorary Swatch GU/Auto /5, Doughty Ice Scripts, Povin Superstar Scripts, Wheeler Hattrick, and a Blues/Blackhawks Classic Confrontation. Not bad, but other than that I agree with you.

The moral of the story is I dont feel a 1/1 card should feature anything short as far as a true 1/1 patch (NHL Shield,Reebok logo etc etc) or have the most orgasmic patch variation I have ever seen....Other wise its just a waste of gold foil stamping... I know artifacts does similar....And so do alot of other brands... Honestly its frustrating from a player collector standpoint because even with modern technology and the internet you may never even see that particular 1/1 card... let alone own it...

Not disagreeing with you on this one. UD does the same thing in Artifacts that ITG does in all their products.

I get your point again and on top of that i whole heartedly agree. But ITG isnt the one with plain swatches on a 1/1. I dare you to find one with plain swatches. I know for a fact that Dr. Price and his staff hand-pick the 1/1 pieces for their cards. As for UD they have tonnes with plain swatches.

For sure...I agree ITG to my knowledge doesnt use boring variations...HOWEVER...The player selection and card design for ME...Just isn't doing anything... Not entirely their fault...They don't have merchandising rights to use NHL logos or any of that and they do a heck of a job considering...But for me as a collector Im all about the NHL....I compare ITG to the hockey version of a much higher end "Press Pass"

the Ice Scripts probably their the first true hard signed autographs released of the year, and just the feel and design/acatate to them makes me buy them but i could careless about the sticker so called "super star" scripts.

I completely agree. I pulled a Gillies/Gillies clearcut out of this year's trilogy...and the look and feel of it is amazing. One of the nicer cards in my collection despite the player combo.

I love the Ice Scripts set dont get me wrong, its always one of the nicest looking auto'd sets out there, but still, for 175$ a box, i'd rather pick up the ones i like for squat:

HOLY MOLY! 175 for a box of Trilogy! can i get the location of your LCS...

hahahahaha mine sells them for 225! thats like buying 1 box and getting two packs free... sweet!

I agree with this. I pulled the Lindsay Delvecchio and it is a great looking card
