    Sid's Olympic stick missing

The gloves and stick used by Sidney Crosby to score the winning goal in Canada's gold medal victory over the United States on Sunday are missing, Hockey Canada said last night.
The Pittsburgh Penguins star flung the equipment into the air after his overtime goal in Canada's 3-2 win.

Johnny Misley, Hockey Canada's executive vice president of operations, said the Hockey Hall of Fame had requested Crosby's stick.

This isn't the first time Sid's stuff has gone missing either, he had a World Junior jersey stolen as well as his NHL debut jersey.

To be quite honest, just knowing that Crosby's stick from that game might now NEVER be placed in the HOF just makes my day. Waaaay to much credit given to Crosby.

I cannot agree more. They should put Iginla's stick in the HOF over Crosby's.

I completely disagree. In Canada that goal is being compared to significant Canadian goals like Henderson's in '72 and Lemieux's in '87. Winning a gold medal in hockey on home soil is absolutely a huge and while other players like Luongo and Iginla played well, Crosby will always be known for the golden goal.

While people in many other countries won't fully realize the impact, Crosby's goal was a huge moment in Canadian history as streets were filled with people not only in Vancouver, but in Montreal, Calgary, etc. Even the downtown core of Toronto was closed because so many people were out celebrating. Many Canadian baby-boomers are saying that there is more national pride this year than they can remember during Expo '67 and the 1972 Summit Series. As far as I'm concerned, Sidney Crosby deserves the attention he is getting for the goal.

I totally agree with you. Seems a lot of people have a hate-on for Crosby for no apparent reason other than he's a fantastic player. It can't be because he has an ego because quite clearly from every interview you ever see him in he's the humblest person you'll probably ever see. For what amounts to a pretty short career so far he's accomplished a heck of a lot. If anyone deserves to have an ego or to gloat and brag it's him, but he doesn't.

As far as the Olympics and that goal, he deserved it. Every shift he faced the other teams top checking lines. Under that kind of pressure, mentally and physically, he still played amazingly. Yeah Iginla did well passing it back to Crosby on his knees, but the whole reason he was able to do that was because Crosby kept the puck in that end.

Be tough on whoever has his stick and his gloves. They can't really tell anyone, they can't display them and they can't really sell them. As soon as they try they'll have their citizenship revoked if they're Canadian.
