Wow, very scary! Flood the market with cards to make people happy.
I was just joking. Upper Deck is still figuring out what to do according to their statement and will release another statement later about what they plan on doing.
My cards are in the mail so should be interesting to see what I actually end up getting.

Kind of like the 05-06 AO Black Diamond rookie huh?
-
my guess? You'll see them fix this one - Artifacts style.
They'll likely end up making Parallels of the RCs, and send you both.
i.e. You redeemed what you thought was a Tavares.... but you suddenly get some scrub instead.
They'll still send you the scrub, but you'll get a Tavares 'Gold' #/50 as well.

Mine says it is in the mail as well.
I remember in like 03/04 or there abouts I got an Iginla Jersey from Topps that was damaged. When I got the replacement Jersey. In with the jersey was......... wait for it.
.75 cents Canadian to cover the shipping I had to pay to have it replaced. How the times have changed

The scary thing is that these are just the 08-09 Redemptions, which are generally considered XRC's. So if collectors aren't already confused enough about which of the releases has the "true RC" of a player, this would only further muddy the waters.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Hope you still get that Santorelli!

As expected, there's somebody on the Facebook topic that is blasting other people for being angry about getting the wrong card. Of course, he got a Tavares that he should not have. I felt the need to comment and reproduce the response here for further discussion, because it's a pretty significant issue:
Kyle, your response is out of line and completely inappropriate. Obviously given that you figure that you stand to benefit from the mistake, you feel that it's a great thing. Upper Deck admitted that they made a mistake - it is not a random distribution with the BAP redemptions, as Upper Deck printed a checklist on this very page indicating that number X redemption corresponds to player Y - so for you to say that it's random and that people should just be happy to get a rookie card (btw, these redemptions are not the true RCs because they're a redemption from an 08-09 product) when they've spent their hard-earned money to get a card that they were told by Upper Deck was John Tavares and they get somebody else shows a blatant disregard for ethical and practical standards in this hobby. I wonder what your response would have been if the shoe was on the other foot. As I said in another thread here in a different context, Ted DiBiase is laughing somewhere after reading this topic and your response to it.
You have to remember that these are not unnumbered cards with a massive print run - there are only 99 copies of these redemption cards. For every jilted person that should have received a Tavares or Duchene who received a lesser star, there is now one less card available on the market with which to rectify the problem. Upper Deck can't simply give out two copies of a Tavares (one for the erroneous recipient, one for the originally intended recipient) for every redemption that's been keyed into their system - the stock will be depleted and some people will be left out and not get a card at all. The only way they could do such a thing would be to print extra cards as parallels with varying print runs (a la 07-08 Artifacts Redeemed Rookies), further muddying the waters on this redemption program and causing more headaches and frustration for people.
But you enjoy your ill-gotten Tavares or JVR or whoever you end up getting. Everybody's got a price.
