    What?? Is this Really Authenticated?

    Guys check this out:

    http://cgi.ebay.ca/1979-Wayne-Gretzky-18-Rookie-Beckett-Graded_W0QQitemZ150422115187QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_ Hockey_Trading_Cards?hash=item2305db5373

Claims to be beckett authenticated, is this from a show grading? Or is it a cheap attempt at a fake grading? Anybody know?

is it just me or does it look like it says in pen 6.0, the card looks like its in great shape, I would be super skeptical on this card though, would love to see a better picture of the beckett part on top of the holder. just my thoughts

I know i think it looks too good to be true. Kind of looks like a fake, but i could be wrong.

If that is a real copy, it is raw BGS grading (aka el cheapo non-slab appraisal).

From previous raw grading seals like that I have seen advertised for sale, I don't think they do a whitening and pen-over the grading...

i think its real, look closer, u can see the touches on the corners, and of the counterfeits are usually gem mint. I was about to say i see no dots like by the shoulder, but nevermind its the Topps version, so i would say this probably is authentic

Centering isn't perfect either, you can tell that just from the scan. Looks about 65/35 to me.

If they were going to conterfeit it, you'd think a better job would be done.

For a card like this though, if you're not comfortable with the scan (maybe the seller would send you a better one?) I'd stay away. There are plenty of others out there to buy.

Seems weird that he would be selling this card like this, and say he has alot of other high end stuff to list, but his feedback shows him purchasing two Gretzky reprints less than a week ago.

    Seems fishy to me.

Never realized that. Now that i see that you are right, he purchased 2 reprints not long ago, seems very fishy to me.

I agree it looks like the seal of the raw grading just saying it real etc. As napuke46 mentioned with his recent purchase of reprints I be steering clear just to be on the safe side.
