Health Care bill passes
Welcome comrads to the new Amerika. Everything our forefathers have fought for has offically becan to decay, the stench of rot wifts high as this new regime slams down another iron fist upon us. Think things will get better Dream on. You know know why they call it the American dream, because you have ot be asleep to believe it. What darn right does the government have to tell someone they have to have insurance or face fines which will eventually lead to jail time ...... To all those who voted for Obama thanks for everything.....

how the hell can you force someone to buy insurance? doesnt that allow the insurance companies to make more money when you have to force every american to buy there service. it isnt even universal health care 12-15 million people still without healthcare, and insurance companies denying you insurance because of pre existing conditions doesnt go away, they just get a $100 a day fine... even though dems technically won, to me insurance companies won

Bad day guys. Hopefully Americans will realize what is going on before it's too late. I try to be optimistic, but it's hard.

Well step 1 is complete. Now they will move to give amnesty to the 25 million illegals here via "reform" and then to finance "reform" and we will never have a shot at getting our country back.

How can they fine people 700 if they do not buy insurance. Some people can't even pay the fine. This bill is absurd. Most of this won't even be implemented for four years. Hope they do not spend the money they save. So many will become dependents on others. We should be able to claim them as dependents. A sad day when there is no motivation to take care of yourself and your family. More loop holes. More government. More waste.

To be fair, according to the World Health Organization, we're kind of middle of the pack.
But please, don't fret Americans, the world is not coming to an end. I don't care for this healthcare bill either, it needed a lot of reworking (it's fiscally irresponsible). But not all Democrats are trying to turn this country into a Socialist country, so ease your fears. This is just the natural ebb and flow of politics, one party retakes the realm and enacts stuff they want, then it switches back to the other.
Let's just try not to start jumping off any bridges or anything.

Actually, to be fair, we're at 37 out of 191...that's in the top 19%.
And that report is highly subjective:
The scale is heavily subjective: The WHO believes that we could have done better because we do not have universal coverage. What apparently does not matter is that our population has universal access because most physicians treat indigent patients without charge and accept Medicare and Medicaid payments, which do not even cover overhead expenses. The WHO does rank the U.S. No. 1 of 191 countries for "responsiveness to the needs and choices of the individual patient." Isn't responsiveness what health care is all about?...
...Eight of the top 10 medical advances in the past 20 years were developed or had roots in the U.S.
The Nobel Prizes in medicine and physiology have been awarded to more Americans than to researchers in all other countries combined. Eight of the 10 top-selling drugs in the world were developed by U.S. companies. The U.S. has some of the highest breast, colon and prostate cancer survival rates in the world. And our country ranks first or second in the world in kidney transplants, liver transplants, heart transplants, total knee replacements, coronary artery bypass, and percutaneous coronary interventions.
We have the shortest waiting time for nonemergency surgery in the world...
That is the report that everyone, including the government, always quotes, but rankings like this are always subjective and this one is based on the WHO's opinion of what constitutes the best health care. If you look at the actual details, there are many areas where we are world leaders, ahead of most of the countries in front of us in this ranking.
