Yeah, do you really expect a doctor to give you a prescription without seeing you with all of the prescription drug abuse that's going on today? That could open them up to malpractice, but I'm pretty sure they could get into legal troubles just for prescribing without diagnosing.
And speaking of malpractice/tort reform, that would help a lot with the costs of health care and doctors visits...but guess what wasn't in the health care bill...
This bill did next to nothing to address health care costs.

I really think this bill with the new census is to keep track of people and where they are. I hope the bill gets repealed. No one can make you buy what you do not want, Not even the government. One step to a new world order. Anyone want to buy other world problems?

Hey, you never know man. Somebody will mix it with Comet, Worther's Originals, WD-40, and a hint of anti-bacterial soap and it will be the newest hardcore drug craze.
It drives me crazy too...I only get one cold/sinus infection a year, maybe two, the only illnesses I ever get. I've gotten to the point I just take Alka Seltzer to control the symptoms and just ride it out instead of going to the doctor.

To play the devil's advocate - since everyone seems to be against this plan what are your alternatives? And to believe bringing back the republicans is going to make a difference seems foolish to me. They had 8 years under Bush and did next to nothing on health care.

I mean really, what was so bad with the healthcare system that it had to be the first and foremost problem dealt with? IMO .... nothing, other than maybe placing some regualtions on insurance companies and Doctors it seemed to be working out ok for me and a few million other Americans.
again .. just sayin

Tort reform, Medicare/Medicaid reform, deregulating health insurance to allow people to purchase from across state lines, just to name a few. Ridiculous amounts of malpractice insurance and unnecessary procedures/treatment to avoid lawsuits drive up the cost of health care visits. The estimates for waste and fraud in Medicare and Medicaid for 2009 was $47B (Obama's plan for this is auditors that will save an estimated $2B over the next three years...$2B out of around $130B plus in waste). And allowing people to purchase insurance across state lines would increase competition and help reduce prices.
The Democrat plan did next-to-nothing to actually address costs...all it did was shift the burden of who pays for it. They're treating the symptoms, not the disease, to use a health care metaphor.
