UD Victory Black question
For the 2009 edition, what are the odds of pulling a Black rookie - one in how many packs?
Also, I know they're unnumbered but I'm wondering if anyone has done the math to determine their print run......they seem to be more common than I would have thought.

I think there was a thread about this a few months back. If I'm not mistaken someone figured out there are about 70 of each black card. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, somewhere in the range of 70. It should be noted though - the Blacks out of Series 2 Upper Deck seem much easier to pull than the Blacks from Victory packs early in the season.

The one per case "Awesome Acetate" cards means that there are approximately 3,500 hobby cases. Base on number, the following rates for the other hits should be as following:
* UD Game Patch are ~1 in every two cases
* Rookie Materails Patches are ~3 in every 4 cases
* Fab Four Fabrics are one a case and 75% of cases should have a second
* High Glossy's /10 are at least one a case (numbers almost suggest close to 2 a case?)
* Exclusives /100 are 28 a case (1 a box, + every 6th box has an extra one)
We can also calculate the following print runs of the non-numbered cards:
* Young Guns ~5,000
* UD Game Jerseys ~800
* Rookie Materials ~900
* Signature Sensations ~60
* Draft Day Gems & Playoff Performers ~ 5,000
* Rookie Debut & Captain's Calling ~4,600
* Victory Gold Regular Cards ~850
* Victory Gold Rookie Cards ~1,050
* Victory Black Regular Cards ~70
* Victory Black Rookie Cards ~90
* The Champions ~1,900
This is only the Hobby version. If there are UD victory blacks in retail, the #s go way up.
Cheers,

I heard the the rookies print run is 5, and the odds are 1:2880 packs. My friend pulled one. Plus, if the print run was any more than 20, beckett would list them in the guide, and since they don't, It has to be at least /20.

They haven't been /5 since 05-06 when UD actually serial numbered the cards. There have been some of the rookies that have had 6 or more Victory Black cards on eBay at one time.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

moved reoddai's post over here. I think he meant it to be here, and not the group break thread :)
His numbers are good.

I would think Victory Black's would have alot lower print run. Just going by expierence, Jordan Staal has 3 Victory Black's, 07-08, 08-09 and 09-10. I have only ever seen 2 Staal Black's, both were from 08-09. I saw one in another collection and I have the other.....and I paid ALOT to get it!
It also seems that Black's are always on people's Player Wantlists. I think since it is the lowest low end product out there which means kids buy it or parents buy them for their kids. Either way I'm sure there are Black's in some kids room sitting in a box or lying on the floor of some kid's mom's mini van.
Most kids wouldn't think that the Black's are "specal".
Just my opinon.....

There are Blacks in UD2 retail. I've opened a ton this year and only pulled 3 total black cards. Two base parallels and one rookie.
