Probably since upper deck owes many if not most of the people that they have had sign cards for them.

Not to come to the defense of UD because their antics tire me as well but sometimes the athletes are just as responsible. Had a discussion with the LCS owner as he helps out UD with getting some athletes to sign the cards...sat with 3 Oilers during the 06 cup run to get them to sign their cards...and he was telling me that a certain newly acquired d-man, "cough" Whitney "cough", has actually lost his shipment of cards to sign not once, but twice. Can't remember which brand it was for but it was for his RC...maybe The Cup? Needless to say, UD gave up on him for signing these cards.

    I'll say this:

I made a promise to never buy another UD redemption after last spring when a few I had waited two years on never came to fruition and had to be replaced.

    I stand by that.

On the flip side of the coin, dealing with the CS guys was one of the best experiences I have had with UD. It wasn't the CS dudes fault the cards were not produced but he made every effort to get me fair value.

I have some cards in my queue I am about to dump so we'll see if my guy can take care of things again for me.

My honest advice, avoid ALL UD redemptions from here on out at ALL costs.

and that would also mean avoiding UD products all together......despite pushing product back by months they still cant avoid the products being filled with redemptions....even their golden boy sidney crosby has redemptions in the SP game used product

some redemptions are legit dude. the busier guys like Gretzky, Crosby, Roy, Malkin all have redemptions that they eventually get to. you'd imagine guys like these are bombarded constantly with stuff to sign. i even heard Patrick Roy was only signing in batches of 300 cards at a time. if your card hit the next batch, redemptions got filled quickly. if not, you waited.

That is a nice caveat Kevin but here's what truly sucks about what you said:

Basically, if you read between the lines, you'll see if you buy/pull a redemption of a big time player, it'll likely get made. UD makes the EFFORT with THOSE guys.

What about the people like me who have a team collection and have/had redemptions of someone like Larry Murphy? I value a hard signed Kings auto of Murphy MORE than another friggin' run of the mill slop job, tee time chicken scratch by Ovechkin. Seriously.

Unfortunately UD only caters to the guys they deem important. That right there is one of MANY things that sets ITG apart, they care about ALL players and collectors.

You don't think it is coincidence that Rob Blake had so many amazing cards in Ultimate 9 and has a whole whack of stuff in Superlative II do you?

    But I digress.

I think UD feeds people BS and most continue to consume it unfortunately.

I think there are a lot of redemptions they put in product knowing right off the bat there is a VERY low, or NO chance of the card being made but they take the attitude, "Oh, we'll get them something for it later, it adds "value" for now."

    Weak.

Don't worry, you might now have a choice but to avoid the products if the rumors ring true and they can't produce them.

Are you trying to tell me that UD doesn't value Josh Gorges and getting him to sign a sheet of 50 measly stickers for his 07-08 SP Game Used SIGnificance? This is shocking to me.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Here's the simple point to note regardless of any defense you can mount for UD, lazy athletes, whatever....if you can't deliver it, then don't sell it. My biggest problem with UD is that they have no intention of delivering it.

so Pat doesn't sign his cards? and this is UDs fault?

He never got cards and stickers to sign. An agreement was never reached and UD put out redemptions anyway. I'm sure its the same story for many of the other players cards that never get signed. Hopefully I get some decent substitutions that i can use for trades.
