I can not help you on the best place to buy 8x10's. Some folks would say ebay or even do an internet search. NFL team shops should have some nice ones. Some teams will include team photos in their fanpacks as well and that is the cheapest way of getting a photo I know.
I can help with the mailing of them. You would insert an Letter Of Request (LOR), an return stamped and addressed envelope, your photo to be signed and some folks would say ad a cardboard piece like the back of a notebook thickness to help protect you photo in transite. I personally usually do not include the cardboard and have had very few issues with bent photos. I send them in the peel and seal 9x11 envelopes that you can pick up in a 25 pack at Walmart for less than $4 a package. The postage that works well for me is three 4ever stamps.

Thanks indyreds. What size envelope do you use for the return (that will fit in the envelope youre using to send)? another 9x11 and fold it?
I didnt realize authentic 8x10 photos were so hard to come by... I guess it depends on which player.

i always use cardboard. i use a 10x13 to send it and and a 9x11 for the return envelope. i put the cardboard in the return postage of course. if you use cardboard you will probably need 4 forever stamps,
for licensed 8x10's...

those photofiles look pretty expensive. you can also google search, switch to large images, and get them printed out on your own. costco will do them for $1.50, walgreens for $3
