No!
The only time I would ever send what I want is signed in would be for a baseball as I would only want that in a blue pen and they are so cheap. Usually players do have sharpies believe it or not. The success rate does vary by player. I have gotten a fair share of my 8x10s back, but usually send only to folks that sign well.
You wanted cheap 8x10's? How about free ones? Here is a link that I use once a month.

I select Maxbook and then build a photobook each month with the same player on the front and back of a page. It costs nothing at all to get it mailed to me or made. I remove the staple from the middle and cut them into individual pages. I now have a free 8x10 to mail out and they can choose what side they want to autograph. Best of luck with your mailings.

i only send sharpies if i want the photo done in a specific color. for example, I had a pic of ruben amaro in a black suit with a black scoreboard behind him. I wanted it done in silver, so i sent silver. if i dont care what they sign with, then i dont send a sharpie

Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it. And I apologize for all of the questions but I have 2 more.
1) If I decide to send a donation to a player with a charity, would I send personal check or cash (Im assuming check)
2) Whats the rule of thumb on sending requests to the same team? Example, Im a Packers fan, so at some point I would like to attempt TTM with many of the Packers players. Also in the same context, should I pretty much use a generic letter or try to personalize each letter so it doesnt sound shady or like Im trying to BS them???
Thanks again!

1- i'd write a check so you know it goes to the charity.
2- i personalize if i can. mention a favorite moment from their career or something. some guys are just tough if they played before you were born.

Should your bank still give you back cancelled checks you would have their autograph on the back as well. Definately try to personalize part of the letters.
