Very happy for the goal but everytime I see him I get that cheap and dirty feeling. He's the Avery, Cooke, Ruutu type player that you would want to see dead if he played elsewhere but you can look past it because he is helping your team win. I can't help but taste bile whenever I cheer for the guy though because I know I would detest his antics if in another uniform.

I would have agreed earlier in the year, but not the way he's been playing recently...it's been a while since he's taken a dumb penalty or anything like that, it seems now he's on the 'embellishment' kick where he's trying to draw penalties and he throws his head back every time he gets touched (sometimes it works, for the most part, the refs seem to be letting it go though).
The biggest difference between him and the others you mentioned though, Carcillo will man up. Whatever he does, he'll fight, no matter who you are. Those other guys normally won't drop the gloves (unless maybe they think they have a chance - see cooke vs kane - and then get laid out).

I know. I respect the fact that he will back his mouth with his fists, win or lose. I feel the same about Crosby. Glad to have him on my team any day of the week. As an opponent, the antics get tiresome fast and detract from his abilities.
Carcillo is a decent hockey player. He could be above the goofiness with the untimely aggression and the dramatic acting. I do agree that he has toned down his actions that hurt the team and has elevated his game. These things stick with him though and the refs will let people get away with murder on him. After that faked high stick yesterday I guarantee the whistle will be deep in the pocket when it comes to calls against him. Hopefully the liberties the Devils will be allowed to take on him translates into them being over aggressive with others and drawing some calls.
I don't relish starting every game giving New Jersey 5 straight power plays and playing the entire first half period shorthanded anymore.

Just like you guys said, Carcillo has definitely improved his game a ton and is much more disciplined. I can't remember the last time he has taken a stupid penalty. That has all seemed to rub off onto Hartnell. I'm not a fan of the acting to try to draw penalties, but if he can draw one here and there and give the Flyers a better chance at winning, then it's fine by me. If he keeps this up, he'll be a monster next season.
Go Flyers!!
