    Ebay SPGU Boxes

Hey everyone , an odd thing just happened to a friend of mine. He just received 3 boxes of SPGU off of ebay for a pretty good price ($140 each). Now the odd thing is when we opened them, all we got were regular jersey cards and the players weren't that great either. Best card was a Rick Nash Gold Jersey /100. I mean out of 3 boxes what are the odds that that would happen... no patches, no autos, no duals and best rookie was del zotto. It was sealed and didn't look tampered with(well i wouldnt know what to look for anyway). How would the sellers know that the boxes all sucked? and How can i tell if it were in fact resealed?

I don't think I have seen any boxes without at least an auto in it but to have 3 in a row sounds pretty suspicious to me.

Yeah that's definitively not right, I opened 13 boxes and got a least one auto or a patch per box...

You were definitely taken. That's why buying boxes on-line from a non-reputable dealer is usually unwise.

That stinks, I think you should contact the seller and see what he says about this. Maybe he will direct you to Upper Deck but you could always find a way for them to track the serial number on the boxes and see which distributor it was sent to.

My buddy already contacted him about it today... i will talk to him later see if he got a response yet. I've heard of pack searching before, but box searching? I didn't think that was even possible.

It's a shame, but it's easier to reseal a box than you might think. He could've cut the packs open and resealed them, or just weighed them, and then put everything back together.

I'll bet the boxes were not tampered with..... but "box searching" was at play.

It's simple. Buy a case, bust boxes. Once you've pulled all the "case hits" sell the remaining boxes. It's no different than opening a box of UD Series 1.... busting packs until you've got the 6 YGs and 2 GUs.... then selling the rest of the packs.
