I actually WASN'T talking about you Andy.
Why doesn't Doughnuts get the Jack Adams? Didn't you know he draws up the plays for TM?

I'm sure I'll be called a homer for this - but here's why Doughty should win over Keith. I think Green ends up a distant third...
1. Keith played with a much better d-partner than Doughty (Seabrook vs. Scuderi)
2. Doughty played much better down the stretch (+5 vs -2 over last month of the season)
3. Their +/- over the year was equal but Chicago as a team was +62 while LA was +22. Shows Doughty had greater impact on his team.
Also, there are two stats that tell a lot to me...
Keith 3 PPG - Doughty 9 PPG
Keith 1 GWG - Doughty 5 GWG
Doughty is better on the power play and he scores clutch goals.
Overall, I think they are both great d-men, no question.
And I know the playoffs don't count but I think they do reflect on the player...
Keith 0-0-0 -4
Doughty 2-4-6 -2
I doubt Doughty will actually get the award, but I know I would rather have Doughty than Keith on my team any day of the week.

Everyone can quotes stat back and fourth all day long, But I say Keith wins it. The biggest reason is going to be more exposure to the East coast writers and playing on national TV more then LA.
I will admit Doughty is an awesome D-man and would love to see him on the Hawks. He will get his chance at many Norris Trophy's. I just hope for all you Kings fans that he doesn't turn out to be another Dion Phanuef. Good rookie season and only has gone down hill from there.

This what I mean by throwing stats out there
Even strength
Keith 11-42-53
Doughty 7-22-29
shorthanded
Keith 1-4-5
Doughty 0-0-0
So Keith is better shorthanded and at even strength

Considering he has gone up in a HUGE way from his rookie year to shattering the so-called sophomore jinx with a Norris nomination, I wouldn't worry too much.
Phaneuf was overrated from day one. Everyone liked him because he was Canadian, had a big slapper and could hit.
Doughty's skating and puckhandling set him apart from other d-men.

Barrie - Those comments on Phaneuf, did you find them in an old post of mine? Regardless, you hit the nail right on the head. While both he and Doughty got Norris nominations young.... the comparisons should stop there. Anyone who has watched either of these guys (for an actual game, rather than highlight reels) should know this.
Doughty is going to be a dominant defenseman for a long, long time. I'm not quite ready to give him Jesus status like Andy
..... but a 4 or 5 time winner before he done? Very possible.
This particular season - I think it's going to be Keith. I don't care about his teammates, his age, or his impact on his team. None of that is worded into the definition of the trophy. It's given to the defenseman who demonstrated the greatest all-round ability at the position. IMO - That's Keith, by a hair.
Don't worry CHI / LA fans..... at worst, you're guy is the runner up.
