I got my Gordie Howe back unsigned today but he did personalize a picture of him and his wife for me. He also sent me a coupon for 20% off memmorabillia on his website(expires Dec.31 2003). I don't know if I'm gonna use it though and I don't want it to go to waste so I'd be willing to trade it to someone.

I got the same postcard response form nolan ryan, juan gonzalez, and cal ripken. I also got a 5x7 of jerry rice. As prevoiuosly stated, they are all signed in advance, some teams have the clubhouse assistants open the mail, stuff the sase with the postcard, and send them back. It's still cool, and somethimes better than a card. I have mine framed on my wall. That's just my 2 cents on the topic. Also, i haven't requested auto's by mail for about 10 years now. who is a good signer, adn who should i avoid? thanks for the input.

Well I only know hockey players habits. I don't know much about other sports players habits though.

    Guy Lafleur

BBonds, just look at different peoples sites, and some have good/bad signers in baseball. If that doesnt work, just go on sites and see who other people got.

What approach do you all take? When i was a kid it was "your a great player... congrat's on this... good luck... could you please sign...Is this still the way to go? I know most of the player's don't read the letter's. Do you still actually "write" to them, or just throw in some cards and say please sign these? I want to get back into mail auto's, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

For me I write a letter where basically I say how big a fan I am,throw in some of my favorite/most memorable things about them, ask them to sign, then wish them luck or tell them to take care. Most of my letters are never longer than 3/4 of a page.
