Difficulty trading
First off, I cannot get a Ritola victory RC for the life of me. I am offering any common YG I have for a Ritola victory RC, and I don't mind if it is shipped in a PWE. And people won't trade with me. It is a 1 BV card.. haha
Can we get this hobby back to where as long as someone gets PC, than try to work out a trade. I cannot trade because people want PC. If you collect Crosby, and you have a 8 BV card I need.. what do you expect? I can only offer an insert. Why don't more people trade to help other collectors? Wingsfan13 for example had a couple cards I needed, but I had nothing for him, but he said, "Just give me some Wings that you think is fair." That is a great trader. Where as I try to get cards from other traders, and they ONLY want PC, not trying to help a fellow with their PC. Also, why do people try to win deals.

It seem as if every one wants "gold" but they only want to give you "tin". Just to many people think it's all about the $$$$$ and not joy of having a hobby.
There are still some awesome traders on here, just have to get lucky and find them.

I don't understand why you'd be so hard on people who just want to enjoy the hobby on a very select list of players. Shipping cost a lot, you know.

It cost 41 cents in the US to trade PWE. And I know, one card cost $1.21 in the US. Everytime I try to trade for PC, I say I will trade in your favor, and that still doesn't work. I don't even care if people shipped low BV card in a PWE.
And how are people trying to enjoy the hobby when they try to win every trade, or ONLY trade for PC. Refusing to help other collectors. In my mind, enjoying the hobby is helping out others.

Yes, you send all your stuff that's not part of my PC and then what am I going to do with it? Trade it again, right? So, that's going to cost me again - and still no PC cards to gain. You have to look at it that way from the other person's point of view too, you know. Plus, right now I'm getting no response from a trader who has yet to ship out his part of the deal to me. I've sent him an extra free Crosby GU card - albeit damaged, but still free - and this is the treatment I get? And you wonder why the nice traders are very few and far between?

But that is the thing, you get to help someone elses PC. So it cost you $1.21 or 41 cents, but you get a card that will be easier to move, and you helped someone out. Would you trade a Ritola Victory RC for a common YG? All you get is a card 5 times higher in BV, and easier to move. Like I said, if it is low-end, send it in a protected PWE, write do not bend, and I'll be happy. This is more about the people who have ONE PC, and like I said, only collect high-end of that ONE guy. Why have some 8 BV card FT than when all you want is high-end back?

While I certainly respect your stance on this, I think the point being made in the original post is why people seem to be in this for the money and not for the hobby. I am by no means saying you fall into that catagory, however my mindset is different when I know I'm adding to someone's PC. I have nothing against people that are in it for the money however sometimes it is nice to take a break and help someone out. I've had the benefit of trading with some very outstanding members on SCF. Some have sent me cards for free, some are willing to work out some rather complicated arrangements to ensure I get the card I need for my PC. I don't mind taking in traders from someone that needs a card from me for their PC. Yes, I spend a bit more on postage but even if I spend $4 more than if I traded outright for a PC item, at least I know I've helped someone out and $4 is nothing when compared to the fact you've helped someone out with their PC. Again though, this is my opinion and I do respect that some people have different views. I've experienced some pretty awesome generosity on this site and I have no problem paying it forward when I can. There ARE some very awesome traders on SCF and they are invaluable to this site and this hobby and I tend to keep in contact with those types as they have been instrumental in helping to build my PC to where it is right now.

These threads are stupid.
No one is making you trade with people, if others only want to trade for PC items, that sounds totally justified to me.
This hobby is expensive .... and most people focus their collection and collecting habits around the amount of money they can spend ... yes its only a buck or two to trade, but that adds up quite quickly.
If you want a Ritola Victory Rookie, then spend $3 and buy one on ebay dlvd.
The only part I agree with you is everyone having to "win" trades. Everyone wants Crosby / AO / Gretz / Toews / Kane / etc etc etc ... when they basically offer garbage in return. You just gotta learn to ignore those many people that offer garbage for gold.
One more thing that kind of goes with what I was saying before ... it makes me angry when people put so much value in their cards, and so little in yours. I get many PMs asking me what BV im asking for a card I have, but the card has a BV .... no im not trading something under BV because he is cold right now ... thats just stupid. Is someone going to give me more BV for a hot players ( example Stamkos ). How many "low ballers" here started to trade or buy Stamkos when his stuff was selling through the roof compared to his BVs. The amount of, why are you asking so much BV / cash .... the card is only BV xx.
Low ballers .... that is the thing this board can do without .... not people wanting to trade for PC
