He's slowing down as his career is starting to wind down. He's starting to use his mouth more than his talent. It happens to a lot of professional athletes, they can't take the fact that they are a shadow of their former self.

I know it may sound cocky but what do you want Pierce to say...Yeah let's come back to LA??? As a player he has confidence in the team that they can win all 3 games in Boston. If Kobe said that, wouldn't the fans of Kobe be happy that he is confident that they can win it all. And if Pierce thinks he's the best player in the world so what...Last time I check there's a freedom of speech in this country and were allowed to say what we want to say. This is the reason that our country is a great country!

Very true...thing is, why shouldn't he think he's the best? He's not the best, and mostly everyone knows that, but would you be driven to succeed if you told yourself that you weren't a top player in the league, let alone on your own team? It's called self motivation, and most everyone who plays any sport, organized or not, does.

Yeah it all worked out good for Boston because they made through the Finals. So whatever Pierce said it doesn't really matter. As long as his motivating himself and the team it's fine. He is what he is.....

So what you're saying is that every player who plays a sport, organized or not, believes that he/she is the best player in their sport? btw, please stop sugarcoating everything he says...he didn't say he was the best player on his TEAM or ONE of the top players in the league, he said he was the BEST player in the league.
