    Very high-end collectors, your thoughts?

I always wondered, wouldn't it get boring if you had a lot of money to spend? I see people who can just purchase whatever card they want any anytime. I know if it were me, I'd be bored. How could you chase? You'd see a card, you'd buy it. No quick sales, no trying to earn some extra cash on the side, you just buy. I know if I was a millionaire, I just couldn't collect cards anymore, wouldn't be fun. Am I in the minority?

I see your point but........lots of high end collectors bust cases of high end product and sell off the mid-low end stuff they get and then use that money to buy more cases. I do not care how much money that someone has, it has got to be fun to open a case of high end product.

I don't care what they have either, I just wonder if they are bored? I like saving up for a case, or PC card. Trying to get paypal fast, it makes it more exciting. Rather than just clicking BIN on every card I like.

i dabble with high end stuff but i don't have the ability to just go out and buy whatever i want. you have to remember though that the fun is in the chase! not just for high end collectors but anyone in the hobby in general. just hoping, waiting, and searching for the 1 card you want is fun.

also, i'd rather have the problem of having too much money and being a little bored rather than doing fine and having some fun. ;)

I think there's a middle ground. I think having the money to get anything I wanted would devalue it for me somewhat, but at the same time I like having the ability to spend $500 on a card without it impacting anything.

I remember the days of having to scrimp on buying groceries, and of having to save every penny to get some cards. I'm definitely happier in my current situation, but I can see how it might get dull if I was wealthy.

Trust me, after I win the LottoMax tonight there's going to be a bonanza of Carey Price buying.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

RGM, I see your confident for the 95 millions :P
Anyway, as a current high school studdent, I don't really have much money, but I'm a referee, so that's the way I'm getting a little money to buy cards. Half of the money I earn is for cards, the other one is for my driving class next year.

Replace "Carey Price" with "Sidney Crosby" for me. I'll put it to you this way, I would have LOVED to go to a bidding war for that Crosby Olympic GU Jersey (sold for $37k), and that Crosby Black Victory RC (sold for $2.5k). Money solves all card-collecting problems.

Wow, didn't know that Crosby Black Victory RC was worth that much :O
I guess I'll need to buy packs of this stuff =O
I'm currently buying loads of 07/08 to get the Halak Victory RC, but I'll try to get a Crosby RC :)
Don't have many RCs yet, since I recently got back into the hobby

If I won the lottery, I'd open a card store. It's always been a dream of mine. Cracking boxes, talking shop with customers, swinging huge deals...I could deal with that kind of life!
