I don't think we have tons of millionaires here. Mainly people with good jobs spending some of their money in this hobby. To find some rare specific cards is a lot more difficult than it could look, they are so many cards that I didn't get when a product was released, then few years after I can get my hands on the specific cards I originally wanted. When a guy collects for 20 years, he should normally have a strong collection where he can build on it (cash/trade deals).

My wants list is so specific that money isn't a major factor in my collecting anymore. If I could find every single card I want they would probably cost less than $3000 for all of them combined, and given how rare all of them are, I rarely end up finding more than one card every few months these days.
If I came into a considerable amount of money (ie. big lottery win money), I would open a card shop, like someone else mentioned. I would also bust ridiculous amounts of high end wax. I don't think it would take anything away from the hobby at all for me.

I tried dabbling in the high end cards but i got bored of it really quick. It is too hard to trade at that level

Actually... I have dabbled in the high end, and find it a completely entertaining alternative to mid, and low end trading.

Seeing as I Collect everything of my players, I have to work at all levels to get what I want, and you have to be adaptable to be able to do this. It keeps you on your toes, and you have to think on different levels depending who you trade with. High end traders are great to deal with. Do I consider myself a High end trader though? Not completely, but I'm having fun with the category.

yeah it does make sense because it maakes any card you so desire not as desireable because you can purchase it at any moment. People want things that are harder to get.

Remember, just because a person has the resources necessary to buy what they want doesn't mean they can find it in this hobby. Think of how rare high-end graded vintage rookies are... I think as my resources have increased my collecting habits have changed. If I won the lottery, I'd still collect but my focus would probably shift to rarer and rarer pieces. I would think the spending on cards may go down, but spending on the 'hunt' would go up...

Folks, I'm in trouble. I was so confident that I'd win the lotto that I hit the BIN on about 50 high-end Carey Price cards. Any way I can get out of that?
