say someone is a dedicated player collector and also happens to bust a lot of ITG product. why not get a free, appreciative gift? it isn't us who have to appreciate the card companies, it's them who have to appreciate us.

I can at least appreciate the effort ITG put into these cards. They didn't just pump out a generic show stamped card, they took the time to personalize it, to make it special. While I have no problem with selling it (eventually they'll all be sold or traded), I question the motive of taking the time to get the card simply to flip it for a few measly bucks.

I realize that you may not like the player you receive but it's still and PERSONALIZED card direct from the maunfacturer. Amazing how ungrateful and imprudent some people are.

I certainly understand the frustration... but have you considered what the buyer is thinking? If the card is personalized, why would anyone buy it? I certainly wouldn't but.. some people might?

Also, wasn't there a big uproar or suggestion about putting a collector's name on a card to indicate that they were the first owner of the card? I think it was with Beckett grading or something, but it was suggested as an added value service to show that, hey that's my original card that I sent to be graded. If you decide to sell it, okay, because no matter where that card goes, it still have my name on it to show that I was the first owner. This feels a little bit like that.

I mean, what if every card you pulled from the pack was already embossed with your name? Preposterous, I know, but as it passes through different owner's hands, everyone can see where it came from and who pulled that card.

I'm not saying the seller of these cards are that altruistic, but maybe, deep down, there's a little bit of that too in them.

Still, if I had my own, I wouldn't part with it so easily I think. Realistically though, you can't take these to the grave. You have to give them up sometime.

yeah, i see your POV but i ask how that is different than say an ITG Jumbo Emblem 1/1 where you can see ITG certainly took their time to create an incredible and unique card and made it special? people still flip those regardless.

as for motive, don't look too deeply into it. obviously, the seller wanted the money. to him, ITG's appreciation was a nice $25 back.

If you collect cards, and got one that had your name on it..... I can't imagine why you'd want to give it up. Just like I can't imagine why you'd want to buy one with someone else's name on it.

But I think for the seller, this is no different than the "He Shoot He Scores!" type redemption. Seller busts product, and enough of it to qualify for a VIP card. He's clearly in it to make money.... so the bonus card he gets is just another asset to sell, and improve his ROI.

It's a hobby for me, and lots of others, but it is a business for lots of people too.

I agree, but I know if they put Kris Russell in this set I'd still buy it even with someone else's name on it. I'm sure you'd try to do the same if it was Ranford.
