An Orr auto 1 of 1 sold for 1001.00 US.
    Stamkos is not Orr.

    Plate auto? Orr has those?

And Stamkos isn't Orr, yet their hobby values are similar.

Not a plate auto, it was an Artifacts Autofacts Orr auto 1 of 1.

That is different, and actually that Orr is better than a plate auto.

Bobby Orr is the greatest player, the words still out on Stamkos, 1 good year.

That doesn't matter. And that is your opinion. Cards are about hobby value, not how good a player is. Taveres is the highest selling rookie.. he wasn't even a Calder finalist.

It's not about a player's legacy, but rather, the demand for his cards within the hobby itself.

From that end, Stamkos has gained a LOT of traction after the season he had. I could absolutely see someone overspending for a card like that.

You have it all wrong, its about collecting and having fun, cards are just pieces of cardboard and nothing more.

It isn't that the seller may get $2000, the fact that someone may offer maybe $1000. Than take it, hence the BO on eBay. You think people who put BIN with BO expect to get full price? Of course not, but they have a price in their head, and if someone offers more than that price, boom sold.

i know where you're coming from and that makes sense to a point but there's still a line where realistic and unrealistic meet. it's obvious people with ridiculous BIN/BO's are looking for an offer but there's still only one effective way to go about it.

let's say for arguments sake the seller is expecting a $650 sale. a BIN/BO of $800-1000 seems reasonable and at the same time shows the seller is expecting a number in the $400-800 range (which may or may not be reasonable to some people).

on the flip side, you could set a $2K BIN/BO, or how about $4K? heck what's the difference? just do $10K! after a certain point, people will think you are asking for the moon and just move along without even glancing at the auction or thinking of a range to offer in. set a BIN/BO and receive offers of half doesn't always work.

this isn't to say that a seller can't have high expectations for his card. it is just that if you as a seller can't give an indication as to what you are looking for, don't expect people to make offers when they have nothing to go off of.
