Yeah i guess we can throw away the fact he's put 96 , 78 and 88 pts in his last 3 full seasons... and 33 pts in 41 games last year

I guess that makes him a 3rd line center with those stats , which are by far better than many 1st-line centers in this league

Well... I believe every team in the league has access baggage. The Hype with Savard is he's pretty close to the top in the league for his playmaking abilities. His vision and his ability to make the finishing pass is almost unmatched. He is a point a game player, and will be for a few more years to come. We have 3 great centers without Savard, but we have 4 great centers with him.

As I said earlier, Peter C has already talked to Seguin and Bergeron about playing the wing, which leads me to believe he'll keep Savard. But Bob Mackenzie and the rest of the Panel believe he's on his way out of Beantown. Either way, he'll make a great 1st line center for Boston in 10-11 or he'll do it in some other City.

Thomas as well I believe has earned the "Starting" roll in any franchise. He could be on his way out for a Bag of Pucks, but I believe its more about respect and finding a starting job for him, rather than the cap hit.

roy.the.greatest, i honestly don't understand the dislike toward savard. He's a few years removed from being one of the top 5 scorers in the league, and while he may no longer be one of the elite centers of the league, he is certainly the top forward on the Bruins roster.

Savard 4 millions per year and Pleckanec 5 millions ? PC IS A GENIUS

It is not a debate Boston vs. Montreal! For next season, I hope Boston will do better than what Montreal did this year... imagine, Montreal reached the East Conference Final with Gomez - Plekanec - ???. Now Boston has Bergeron - Krejci - Seguin - Savard... it should be a no brainer for the Bruins on next spring, well I hope for Boston management.

I do not dislike Savard, I simply do not see his utility anymore with Bergeron, Krejci and Seguin. The center of the ice is fully loaded, and with 3 top young guns.

Uh, since when is having a player with 392 points in his last 361 NHL games under contract at a $4-million cap hit a bad investment?

It isn't "hype" surrounding Savard. When healthy (and prior to last season, he had missed just EIGHT games over four seasons), he's one of the top seven point-producing centres in the NHL. For a team that ranked LAST in the league in goals scored last season, I'm sure they would find a spot for him in the top-six. And if they don't, someone will. And the Bruins will get something decent in return.

    This isn't rocket science.

That is assuming that all 4 players remain centers. There is still a good possibility of shifting someone to wing to accomodate savard. Besides, if one of them could make the transition, a savard-seguin or -bergeron or -krejci line would be exciting to watch.

Hockeybear: Exactly. I still believe they'll move Savard, but if they don't, then they'll find a way to accomodate everyone. And Seguin is by no means a lock to make the team out of training camp next year. I'd give him a better-than-decent shot, but given the Bruins' current crop of centers, it wouldn't surprise me if he were to spend more time in junior. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

In my opinion, we shoudn't prenalize Bergeron, Krejci or Seguin because Savard is unidimensional (Savard's reputation is to be a selfish player, not good for a team chemistry, that doesn't help to trade him). Seguin would had a perfect role as 3rd center for his 1st NHL year. Anyway, we'll see.

Ill guess he plays 9 games and enjoys one more year of Jr hockey. I dont doubt he can hang but as youve guys (i didnt read the whole thread) have probably already mentioned the Bs are log jammed at C. They said they talked to Tyler about playing wing in an interview before the draft and they say he could fill that role...Guess we will see tho.
