This thread proves probably one of the best things I've ever heard anyone say(my old boss) completely and udderly correct: "Our American culture is turning into one big nascar race, but instead of turning left, we keep turning right."

I love it how we went from "If you're not with us, you're against us."(dubya's words, not mine) to "if you're with HIM, you're a socialist(though I'm sure all you god fearing capitalists hate public education and the post office that allows us to trade our pieces of cardboard?)". Ignorance truly is bliss I guess...

Bush was actually able to get some things done, some good and some bad. Despite some of the Bush admin's actions being quite controversial, I believe some of it was necessary and made our country safer after 9/11. What has Obama done besides pass a healthcare bill that almost nobody wanted, including people in his own party? I viewed the oil spill as a chance for Obama to show what he can do, and to show up the Bush administration for it's inadequate response to hurricane Katrina. Instead he has done next to nothing, turning down or ignoring offers of help, and Governor Jindal is stuck down there without the authority or resources to protect his own state from an environmental disaster. Swift and decisive action by government could have stopped the spill from becoming as big as it has gotten.

I select this bumper sticker for Obama's response to the disaster:

Obama turning down and ignoring offers of help? If you're referring to the Jones Act you should probably read it before you reference it. The Jones Act refers to ONLY trade and commerce, not international aid, such as skimmers, in this situation. There are CURRENTLY 15+ skimmers brought in from other countries to help with the oil spill. Obama has accepted, as of mid June 6 offers to help with the oil spill and hasn't responded to one. The only reason the Jones Act was lifted in Katrina by Bush was because the infrastructure of the Gulf Coast area was so badly damaged that the help of international commerce was needed(oil and gas).

    Good ones!

Watch out, I've been called a racists for posting Kool-Aid comments; there are a lot of people who don't understand the Kool-Aid and religious cult connection. :)

I find the whole use of the socialist tag quite silly myself. We've had social programs for years. That's not saying some don't have their flaws or that we should have as many as possible, but I find the big push to use the term socialist with Obama is simply to get everyone worked up since when most people hear socialist they think of evil communists of years ago.

really? I must have missed that one. I guess there are people that don't know what "drinking the kool-aid" means depending on their age.

Nice to see you drop by Mike. I for one am aware of the connection you refer to, and I didn't take that bumper sticker that way....I just think the look on his face is funny. Almost a devilish look with his finger pointing at you!

I think it's a little deeper than that. Read over the end of the bill and check out the dredging ammendment ect. That may be the problem everyone was referencing. They would be transporting oil technically. I personally think Obama is trying to advance an agenda in this disaster.

Yep, that was what Mike & I were referring to. But it doesn't really even come close............
