Very sad news - one of the best there ever was at doing what he did, and boy he could play the game too. Not too many tough guys these days can put up 162 goals in their career.
RIP Bob Probert.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Rest in Peace Big Man... One of the most feared players of all time. He had the ability to bring an arena to his feet with a square off at center ice. I can remember he and Domi going at it when Domi was a member of the Rangers. That's what the fans came to see... An amazing moment in time. He will certainly be missed.

I know that Bob had more than his share of personal problems, and it would be VERY easy to immediately turn to alcohol or drugs for an answer to this one, BUT, and I'm not saying they aren't both viable options, I want everyone who is not in Southern Ontario/Southern Quebec/Northern Michigan today to know that the heat today is unbelievable, and is expected to remain for most of the week. Advisories here are telling people to stay indoors, etc., etc. It's just as likely that Bob decided to "suck it up" for the day and do some fishing with his buddies, without realizing how dangerous the poor quality of air (smog alerts) and intense, humid heat might be to their cause. If they weren't properly hydrated... I'm just saying, let's not jump to conclusions. I took a less than 5 minute walk to the post office to send off my day's bubble mailers, and I was light-headed upon returning home, and I've been drinking my water and keeping cool, so... I'm just saying. A sad, sad story by all accounts. Best fighter of his day.

I'm still in shock after reading of Probert passing away - despite his personal problems, he was truly a class act. I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple times and he was always willing to chat, joke around, sign autographs and pose for pictures. Especially with the kids..
He will be missed...
Here's my favorite card I had him sign - when I asked for his autograph he looked at the card and did a double-take and said "What an ugly mug! That isn't me, is it?":
