Not a fan of the "Artists Proof", could have gotten an Ericsson one, but they don't appeal to me. I Love the look of the framed sheet and I agree that cutting them up is against the spirit of the hobby a bit.

But thats just my opinion and people are free to do what they choose! To each their own!

People willing to cut up and sell uncut sheets have absolutely no regard for the spirit of collecting and preservation.

Is it any different than cutting up a Gretzky or Howe jersey? or a Babe Ruth bat? If the seller states in his auction what exactly he's selling, than I don't see it as any different than what card companies have been doing for years.

A real collector woudn't cut/trim collectibles such as uncut sheets released on the market, hockey cards; however sellers would do ANYTHING for money. Cutting/trimming uncut sheets and cards is not a new market. Where there is money to do, there are sellers!

I bought a Hawerchuk from one of these guys and wouldn't buy another. They are paper thin and I was expecting a 130 point piece.

I don't consider the individual items sold from the sheets, to be a "card" or anything except a portion of a now ruined sheet. Those who buy the sheets to cut them up, are only looking for their profit so destroying a collectible item means nothing to them. Too bad especially for someone like Mike who's collecting them. Just my two cents worth...

As someone has already pointed out though - how is that any different from Upper Deck cutting up a Gordie Howe GU Jersey? A Babe Ruth game used bat? Or when ITG cut up the only known pair of Vezina Pads in existence?

They take the game used item, cut it up, and make a new collectible out of it. They do this to make a profit.

Not sure how that's any different from someone cutting up an 'uncut sheet' to make individual collectibles (as apposed to one giant one) and making a profit doing that.

If I had a hard core player collection and these came up........ I'd just pass on them. They're useless and I really wouldn't give the guy 2 cents for it.

    I agree wholeheartedly Dean.

I think instead of putting these worthless redemptions in the Cup tins, UD should just put another big hit, auto/patch something, in there.

I see ZERO value in these things.

They are not official cards, will never be on any checklist, nobody will "chase" this kind of card, so indirectly no demand (so very low value). They should never cut the original sheets into custom cards, total wrong collectible decision, and wrong business decision as sellers. They had more chance to re-sell the original framed sheets.
