    Buying Hot Packs

Obviously, pack searching is frowned upon. I want to raise a question or opinion about buying "hot packs" that guarantee hits on eBay. Frowned upon or not frowned upon? You be the judge.

If pack searching is frowned upon, then the result of the pack search (hot packs) would also be frowned up on. Stands to reason in my books at least.

With that said, I have been known to buy hot packs from a local seller up until last year. I decided to stop last year because I was only encouraging the pack searching problem. Instead...I buy my own cases. :)

I think you're nuts to buy 'hot packs' from someone off eBay.

First off, pack searching isn't an exact science. There is no way for them to really know that you're going to get the 'hit' they promise.

Second - If someone is willing to pack search, and sell you the packs with the hits.... I would also suspect they've done this only after getting the case hits for themselves.

Loose packs on eBay?? You're crazy.

    Dont buy hot packs.
    You will get screwed everytime.

Exemple rookie hot pack of ICE:
People buy the crappiest rookie in that set, open a pack, remove a base or w/e and put the crappy rookie in it. Re-seal the pack with a hot iron and there you go, heres your hot packs. Yeah it will contain a hit, buts its always crap.

I will be honest and I used to years ago buy hot packs. All that I can tell you is that I always managed to pull what I was supposed to but it was always a common.

    Stay away from them.

    A few misconceptions I believe:

-Pack searching can be an exact science with enough knowledge, training, and practice. It involves knowing whether or not UD inserts decoys and if they do the difference in wieght between the decoys and the game used cards.

-I would imagine that a bulk of the people selling hot packs are tampering and staging what cards are inside but some of the reviews ebayers have given some of the sellers are pretty impressive.

As far as the ethics are concerned iI see no problems if someone buys thier own cases of a product and can use an accurate method to determine what cards are in the packs without tampering and then sell them for an elevated price. This wouldn't constitute pack searching in my opinion as they've already purchased the cards without searching.

I kind of theorized this myself a while back as well. I've been meaning to debunk the myth, but I just got to get the money to get things organized. Maybe, it's a project I can do next year.

The packs you can buy on eBay that are called "hot packs" are more often than not resealed packs.

You're basically paying for a grab bag of common cards from a specific set.

    Cheers,

I agree with this statment, this sounds like the type of tom-foolery you would expect to find with a special e-bay "hot packs" besides, nothing like buying your own box and knowing your "pretty much" guarenteed hits!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I mean, I have bought mostly SP Authentic "Auto" hot packs and I always get an auto of some sort. So I haven't been scammed in that regard, but as for the hits.. not so much. I have bought two lots of 3 hot packs, pretty much your hits for a box for $31 and $36 dollars but haven't pulled any outstanding autos. A Benn Ferriero FW auto or Alex Pietrangleo SotT have been the best two.

How easy is it to open and re-seal a pack? I mean I inspected the packs pretty thoroughly and didn't noticed anything glaring.
