How do you organize your collection?

As someone who struggles with keeping everything straight, especially with cards constantly coming in, I'm curious about how others keep their cards organized.

Do you organize by set? year? player? card type? I've settled on a very rough alphabetical player order, but then it's hard if someone is looking for a specific type of card......anyway, just wondering what you all do.

my collections are ogranized as follows:
Ovechkin by year/set so 05-06 artifacts up to 09-10 UD victory
    Cup collection by year/number
    Mcdonalds by year/subset

    Hope that makes sense.

I have a 3000 count box that I keep PC in. All my PC stuff is sorted by year, product, and common to rare. All my traders are sorted first by type of card it is (insert, auto, GU, parallel), then by year, then by product, and in order of the numbering on the back of the card. All my base are put into 5000 count boxes sorted by year, product, and number. I'm a little OCD about it all.

I put all of my cards in the little slot in the computer desk.
I put the fleer base cards in 3 seperate piles, put the rest of the base scattered anywhere lol, and I put my 5 collections (Mason Raymond, Ryan Kesler, Matt Duchene, 2009-10 UD series 1 Game Jerseys, and Gemography autographs) all in 5 seperate piles.
I also have a seperate pile for all of my traders (Even though I dont have any right now )

I usually put my base sets into binders by years so my 2009/10 Binder will have series 1 and 2, and SPA
Then all the rookies and short prints go in a 5000 ct box where each row is a year. Then i have a seperate shoe box for my Jeff finger and none hockey stuff and i have a 3000 count box for all my rich nash stuff.
