Anything base, or standard insert, they go straight into the nine-pocket sleeve. Anything expo, #d, auto, or memorabilia always goes into a penny sleeve before making its way into my binder.

You make some very good points, I very seldom move my cards around...looked at an old binder with my 90/91 OPC Premier cards and they are all in awesome shape still after 20 years. Anyone needs any lmk
.
As for age...I am turning 41 or 42 at the end of the month, not quite sure...no I don't smoke the leaf but maybe the rye has killed some brain cells
, and even though 99% of my friends don't collect, %100 like the cards, and I even sense some jealousy from them over what I have accomplished, so the binders are constantly flipped through by visitors. And I bask in the glow of my collection and the NYI PC verbal diarrhea begins

My Ryan PC collection is kept under my pillow..... j/k The typical treatment for my Bobby Ryan pc cards. Brand new Penny Sleeve, Top Loader, and Team Bag. Some cards are in one touch holders with a team bag over it. Then I store them in a two-row "shoe box", the boxes that are wide enough for top loaders. All slabbed cards go into the empty row.

I have mine kind of sorted...GU/Autos in one section, RCs in another and I kept base and inserts together but with everything I put parallels beside the regular version...looks pretty cool to see a base/10/25/50/100/etc of the same card together.

I keep my Richter PC (patches and Autos only) on a shelf out of the sun, right on top of the fantasy miniatures diorama I've painted.

For my Hjalmarsson PC, I have them organized in alphabetical order by set on a table in my cave and the best ones in one touches at the bottom. My Vermettes are in penny sleeves and toploaders in a box with the rest of my PC stuff, same with Welch.
