Lots of potential members coming up. But a lot depends on production the remainder of their careers so good arguments can be made for dozens of players. Question I always ask myself......Would they make it if their careeer were over today?

He was suspended 5 games for that. 5 games. I don't agree that something that warranted a 5-game suspension is enough to keep a guy out of the hall. Yes, spitting at another person, or really any living thing is despicable, but is it really worse than physical violence? Should every player who ever participated in a fight on the field be left out of the Hall?

if they beat up an umpire, yes!
i think HOF players should not only be great players but good people, so now i have opened a can of worms for such greats as cobb.

Cobb was the first thing that came to mind when I read your initial comment, but didn't want to go there.
I'm just saying why is punching an umpire worse than punching a pitcher or first baseman or outfielder? Should Pedro not get in because of the Zimmer incident?
And 1 heat of the moment on field action doesn't make Alomar a bad person. I can't recall a single other time that he was in trouble or got negative press.

I agree....one lapse in judgement or a regrettable moment in time should not erase a great career. Who knows what would have been filmed in the early years if they had cameras everywhere like today.
As for pedro/zimmerman...am i the only one that has the impression that zimmerman charged pedro and he was defending himself? that's how the replay looks to me

I agree Zimmer charged Pedro, I'm just saying that if spitting gets a guy erased from the hall physical harm should, too. Not that I think either should keep people out unless it is really bad like pounding a guys face in over and over. Who knows what was said to Alomar before that incident? Nothing can justify him spitting on somebody, but I don't think anything can justify physical violence either.

Larkin should be in:
Barry Larkin vs. Cal Ripken – While Ripken has more than double the HRs of Larkin (431 to 198), Larkin actually has a higher OPS+ (116 vs. 112) , BA (.295 vs. .276), OBP (.371 vs. .340), and almost the same SLG (.444 vs. .447). Factor in Larkin’s superior speed and you’ve got a pretty good case that Larkin was a better player than Ripken. Ripken’s big advantage? Durability. Larkin only played 150+ games in 4 of his 19 seasons. So Larkin might have been better when healthy but Ripken was more valuable overall
