He works for the Phillies. I'd try the team address.
On a totally side comment, the Baseball HOF is becoming a giant freaking joke. It's more about being an average player and not pissing off voters than it is about being a great player. Less than half the total voters on the panel that elected Gillick voted for Tommy John. Does a GM really deserve a spot in the HOF more than a pitcher who nearly won 300 games? Personally, I don't think anybody on the list should have been elected and I bet that is what most of that committee felt too since only 1 person got in.

I agree- Steinbrenner, Martin, Garvey and John should have all made it BUT Gillick totally deserves it as well (look at his career!). I will be getting him a request out soon...
Forgot Marvin Miller- he should be in too...Last edited by SMVintage; 12-06-2010 at 01:36 PM.

Lol- he was only one of the greatest owners in Baseball History- Turned the Yankees back into the best organization and won 11 World Series and countless pennants.... Definitely deserves a spot...

The only thing with Steinbrenner was he had the deep pockets to turn his team into the best. If I was a billionaire I would by a team and then drop tons of money on the best players too. I think he deserves to be in the HOF but should wait the 5 years like all candidates need to besides Clemente. I think Santo, John, Billy Pierce deserve to be in also.

Gillick had signed c/o The Phillies last year quite a bit. He still works for them as a special adviser.
I think they got the voting right. The Yankees won 7 World Series with Steinbrenner as an owner, but he as the actual GM for none of them. He and Miller probably deserve to get in, and they will in time. Miller's vote total keeps getting higher, and I think they were just giving him the middle finger for his first year.
I thing Garvey falls into the "Hall of Very Good" Category. Which of his numbers really jump out at you? As for John, yes he has the surgery named after him. However, it's a crime if he gets in before Blyleven. John had 5 separate times when he led the league in any category. 3 Times he tied for the league in shutouts, Once he led the league in Wild Pitches and the other time it was hits allowed. He made 4 All-Star games, and appeared in the Cy Young Voting 4 times. Yes, he has 288 wins, but also has 230 losses. He's really the product of having played 26 years.I NEED 02/03 Topps Heritage Calder Cloth cards!!!
Always looking for signed Philadelphia Sports Illustrateds!
Have an odd Richie Ashburn item? I might want it!
Looking for 66-67 Topps Hockey

I just don't think so, he stood for a lot of what is/was wrong with baseball, and buying pennants isn't all that hard either. Don't wanna rerail this thread, sorry.

I hate George Steinbrenner's baseball economics and how he changed the game, but to argue against his spot in the HOF is ludicrous IMO.
