Dryden game used stick
I have the opportunity to buy a Ken Dryden game used auto stick from a very reputable guy. I know all about the prices of cards but am new to buying game used sticks. What would be a good price for this? I appreciate the input.

That would probably go for a pretty good amount of coin - Dryden's well-known aversion to the hobby means that there's not a lot of his memorabilia out on the market. I'm not really well-informed on his values and what his stuff does, unfortunately. Maybe Luc can chime in on this one?
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I'd research first. Due Diligence.
Ken Dryden never really signed his name to anything, nor did he promote for self-gain, nor did he give things away. I'd be skeptical about anything from Ken Dryden unless he gave it to me himself and/or you have the photos to prove it.
Ken Dryden was against the whole marketability of independent companies making money off the back of common NHLers that at the time never even had a pension plan.
He had his name & card removed from the last set that he was supposedly legally allowed to be in 1999-00 UD Retro, but upon further inspection, Upper Deck had no right to use his likeness and would have been sued by him in Canadian Court had they printed the infamous card. Dryden ordered the card removed from the set, and to all knowledge UD complied.
Numerous stories abound regarding Card #82 have appeared over the last 10 years. Some stories say that there were cards that actually made it into some Retro Boxes. Stories that between 1 cards and 7 cards were printed and a one, or a couple were accidentally still put into boxes also abound.
Bottom Line: Of all NHLers to ever play, if offered any memorabilia by any of them, Ken Dryden would be the one I'd be most concerned about regarding #1 it's availabilty. He just did not participate like others.
There are millions of Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull and Bobby Orr Autographs in the World. There are thousands of Gordie Howe, and Bobby Hull Auto-sticks & pucks.
Every retired NHL player of note participates in some authentic program by either a Card Company, Clothing company, equipment company. Not Ken Dryden. You won't find anything in the market, or even in collections with any reference to him.
Having said that, if you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are indeed purchasing a Ken Dryden Stick, and then prove it to the Hockey collecting World it would be would be something very scarce and quite likely pricey.Last edited by centrehice; 01-05-2011 at 11:30 AM.

It also depends when the stick was used by him, if it still has original tape, same height etc. Should be a good chunk of change though.

do some serious research on it. I think that auction guy posted is a good indicator, but that appears not to have any COA either.
