i dont really like it because it means that the card is full of sharpee. i feel like players do it so they are not sold(which i dont). however on gloosy card/photos and really anything aside of paper they can easily be removed with a Q-TIP slightly dipped in rubbing alcohol. you simply take the Q-TIP and run across what you are trying to remove going from the wet side of the Q-tip to then flipping it over to the dry side to remove any excessive alcohol take your time and DONT soak the card in alcohol. If you havent done it before practice on a throwaway card.

Don't know why but I prefer them personalized especially from older players.

For people who don't know about Expo marker taking off Sharpie or are skeptical I made this quick video. Just on a side note, the photo is matte finish so you don't need to worry about that.

Also, if anyone needs Josh Vitters photos (the photo I used as an example in the video) let me know. I have 20 or 25 that I need to get rid of. I think he will be playing for the Iowa Cubs this season.

    On a card, I don't want a personalization.

Generally, I prefer them without. On 8x10s it doesn't bother me at all but my preference would be without. At some point my collection will go to my kid's and nephew. I want them to be able to enjoy it without having to explain who TJ is for the rest of their life. If they get in a bind and need to sell things, I want them to have that option also.

All of the college football coaches I have personalized it. Butkus and Sayers both personalized my 8x10s; fortunately Butkus also sent a 5x7 HOF card. The sigs I've gotten in person by Cadillac Williams and Kenny Stabler are personalized on footballs. I did that for myself. It is a nice reminder of a couple of great days that I got to spend with two of my favorite football players.

I have a 1989 pro set football card of Mark May that is personalized. How woud I go about removing the personalization from that type of card?

You can't get it off of those old cardboard cards.

i personally think its very cool when a player takes you into consideration and personalizes it. all my personalized autos are alot more special to me than most of my others... but on the contrary when i do pass away and my family goes through and finds all these autographs, all the personalized one would be tough to get rid of and unfortunately most of them would probably get thrown away. so im kind of indifferent on them. i like them now but when i think of them in the future i dont so much.
