    Shipping Policy

Hey guys, wondering if someone who sells on Ebay can answer my question.

I see a lot of people state that if something sells for over $40 or $50 they must ship with a tracking number and insurance as per paypal policy. Not everyone on Ebay does this though.

Is this an actual Paypal policy or is it just to protect the seller in case a claim is made against them.

    Thanks,

While you would have to check with PayPal to read their terms and conditions about the policy, it is a very smart thing to cover yourself with tracking/insurance on a big dollar sale. If a person claims that they never received the card on a $100 purchase, and the seller didn't ship with tracking that demonstrates that the card was successfully delivered, eBay/PayPal will rule 100% of the time in the favour of the buyer.

    Exactly.

Too many dishonest buyers out there (I'll bet less than 1%, but that's still too many). If sellers will lose every single time without a signature, on more expensive purchases they're going to have to ask that you get a premium shipping option. It's the only way they're safe.

In Canada, that can me instead of $3 to ship, it's going to cost $15 to ship.... but you can thank an eBay / paypal policy that favors buyers.... and dishonest people out there for the extra charge.

You almost never saw this 10 years ago.

as an American that sells occasionally on eBay, I will not sell any of my big ticket stuff without this assurance, even then, eBay/paypal has been known to rule in favor of the buyer.

its not an ebay policy or paypal....but RECOMENDED BY BOTH, if you want seller's protection

in my experience on 1000 sales...you get 5-10 ( lost in the mail / i got screwed sales)

by insuring the package ans asking ( i ask 8$ canada and 10$ USA) i do pay 1-3$ of my pocket to compensate the diff, that way i'm sure of not loosing 50-100 or even 200$

if its under 50$ i'll live with that, it happened to me b4 you need to draw a line somewhere haha

anyways its sad tho when people STEAL

I've done over 5,000 eBay transactions and I have a similar approach.

My normal shipping cost is $2.50-$2.75. If I have a card of value I will charge $3.25 or $3.50 and include Delivery Confirmation in the US, and state that in the terms.

If it's Canada, we now have a US Customs Form that is stamped when the package is sent, and is also traceable. I use the stamped completed customs form as my proof of International Shipping should anybody try any hanky-panky.

I will NOT ship to Russia under any circumstances, and I will be very cautious when shipping a rare or expensive card to Quebec. If I ever sell another card of $50.00 or greater value to a Quebec buyer, they would have to bite the bullet an pony up for some of the insurance money. There are too many crooked people in Quebec between the seller and buyer to take a chance.

In terms of attrition. In over 3,000 eBay sales, I've only lost 2 packages. One I found was a lie, the buyer actually received, so I've been very fortunate.

It's sad to see that we have such a terrible reputation, but I do agree with you. When I sell on ebay, im never confortable if someone from Quebec wins it, and I am from Quebec lol. Im on a french forum and alot of people were banned because they are dishonest/crook or w/e.
But yeah, there are still a bunch of good guy in Quebec

I lived in Quebec for 3 years, I was astounded at how Quebecers deal with corruption in the Province, they just laugh it off. There are millions of good folk in Quebec, it's just the corrupt ones that seem to get into all levels of Government, Public Services, and Law Enforcement that bother me.

One time years ago before I lived there, I was hand-cuffed and slammed to the hood of my car by the QPP on what I thought was a routine stop. I asked what I had done wrong, and the Officer said in Franglais, "Your cars come from Dat Flat Place"...... I had Saskatchewan plates on my car. Lol.

Yeah Centerice does not like Quebec but it always him complaining on this forum about this quebec issue he has and it's getting old if you ask me. I never experience what he did, so again let not generalise here. One person experince is not everyone experience.

Like if corruption did not exist outside Quebec, common...
