THe dunk isn't special because many people in the world can do that over the hood of the car..probably everyone on the AND 1 team for starters and many other Players.. Blake Griffin did even have to dunk to win that competition. HE would have won based on popularity alone. Javal's Dunk, very few people could do, possibly only him..
Waste of my time last night.. They should get rid of the contest or make star players compete like in the Wilkins/ Jordan era..
I've seen worse contests, I guess, but now I remember why I have not watched it since Vince Carter, and before him I remmeber watching the Dee brown Contest and thinking wow this competetion is getting lame...then Ceballos.awful, didn't watch after that until Carter.. I guess Every ten years there will be at least one worth watching..
Just my opinion, becuase I loved the Wilkins/Jordan contests..with tlittle spudd Thrown in the middle..can't and will never be topped

The contest was good until all that garbage in the final round. The car (kias plug), the quire, and kenny talking too much just bothered me. I thought it was so stupid. And I agreed 100% with Barkely. That dunk over the car was not very impressive especially because it was over the hood. Thanks NBA for totally showing us that Griffin would have been in the finals no matter what

Nate jumped over Dwight and everyone said he shouldn't have won. And he's under 6 feet!!
It was nice and all but I really couldn't see them dismissing the choir or telling Kia that they can keep their car off the court. I mean, let's sweep away the naivety and be honest with ourselves for a second. That is what sorta took away from some of the "goodness" imho. Only because it is supposed to be a competition (which implies fairness).Last edited by cgb_orl; 02-20-2011 at 03:52 PM.

Right, no one in the NBA but...
It's been done repeatedly in other dunk contests.

Haha, that was better than what Blake did, as Marko leaped over the top of the car and not just clear the front end. Then again, the Del Sol was the t-top version and it would have been harder to clear with the top intact. Had Blake jump over to where Baron was at, there would be no question to who won the dunk contest. Either way, Blake won the contest by popularity and a big congrats to him.Last edited by tboculosis; 02-20-2011 at 05:26 PM.

That Grffin car dunk wasnt special, I truly did not see any differences between jumping over players in previous dunk contests.
I personally thought McGee two ball dunk was so creative. DeRozan dunks were niiiice too.
But no creativity and not enough popularity like Griffin.
I rooted for Griffin but he was destined to win. Hometown, all the hype....
Also, Ibaka stuffed animal dunk was totally ridiculous. Too dull for me.
I actually hated this yr with all the stupid outside factor crap.
Choir, coaches etc. When C-Webb and Kenny Smith was talking before dunks, I thought it was freakin WWE.
Just plain ridiculous. I hope they ban coaches next yr.
