The Laker killer strikes again.
AInge couldnt hesitate to drop Perk on a team with one major need a starting center.
OKC gave the Lakers the most fits in the west last year and were only missing a center.
They dont need Perk with Shaq and Jermaine plus BIG BABY is a beast this year.
For 48 minutes they will now have two of KG, Pierce and Greene on the court at the same time. Very smart move, no team will get a berath against the Celtics, this puts them in the drivers seat.

Huge C's fan here -- I actually like this trade because it's good for the Celtics down the road. Green will be a star for years assuming they like his makeup and resign him long term. He went to Georgetown so I think he'll learn how to play celtic defense with garnett screaming at him LOL. The celtics also get the Clippers first round pick in this which nobody has mentioned, that's not nothing. I also think Perk is a beast and I'll always love what DID for my team but I think his time has passed and he's knees may be shot for good. Plus, he already rejected a contract offer so it's pretty clear he was going to shop himself for the highest bidder -- meaning he'd be gone soon anyway.
For this season, I dislike the trade because taking on Dwight Howard and other centers without Perk will be H-A-R-D.Please feel free to message me here about my electronic bay & COMC listings

Not directed at you, but I think Celtics fans in general are forgetting, if they didnt think they could afford to pay Kendrick Perkins, they certianly cant afford to pay Jeff Green, it hurts them in the short AND longterm.Hidden Content

I was thinking the exact same thing. I guess Perkins wanted a deal along the lines of 4 year 44 million, which I don't think is worth it since Rondo has a deal of 5 years 55 million. I was wondering about that too. I haven't seen anyone raise that question of resigning Green.

I disagree, Perk is a starting center and was looking for BIG MONEY. Centers get paid. period. Backup forwards (Green) don't make what starting centers make so Green is much more affordable than Perk. We'll see for for sure who signs a bigger deal in the offseason. Plus I really think Perks knees are a problem, but hopefully they hang on long enough to beat LA! The latest rumor is that Dwight Howard is upset and might sign with Boston in the off season -- not sure how that contract would fit.

See the issue is
A) big men get played, but Perkins isnt a scrub, he's a great defensive player.
B) Jeff Green isn't a backup, he was starting for the Thunder
C) Green is gonna ask AND get starters money..
There is a reason Jeff Green isn't on the Thunder still and its because he wanted more money than OKC could afford to give him, he's certianly not gonna take less to play in Boston.

If they wouldn't pay Perkins, they sure aren't gonna give Dwight a max contract. Even if Dwight leaves Orlando, Boston sure isn't his destination.

They couldn't afford him if they wanted to, they paid everyone else to much
Paul Pierce is on a 4 year deal for 61 million
Ray Allen is on a 2 years for 20 million
Kevin Garnett is on a 6 year deal for 126 million
Rajon Rondo is on a 5 year deal for 55 million
as you can tell, it'd be impossible, especially when the new CBA is reached and the cap gets smaller, and possibly there will be a hard cap, they need to have a bench still..plus even if the Celtics could get Dwight, I doubt he wants to play there when he could go to LA or the Knicks instead.

Jeff Green thinks he can get at least 8 mil a year. Perkins was offered 4/22 by the Celtics. I think they'll both get in the 4/32 range.

Was it 4 for 22? I felt like i read somewhere where Perk wanted 44-45...maybe i'm completely off.
