Taylor vs Tyler
Is it just me or is nobody pumped up for this game. It's the first time the 2 are facing eachother in NHL play, and the only time this year. You would think people would be excited for the game, but i havent seen a single topic on NHL network or anywhere else highlighting the big game tonight. Instead, people are more concerned with Seabrook's contract extension...

As fun and exciting as the Oilers are to watch, it's the time of the year when people are focused on playoff races and the trade deadline. Edmonton's a total non-factor in part one of that, and their role is that of seller for the latter.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Neither player is shooting for the moon, so pretty much a non factor. Eberle inspight of injury has played better than Hall, and he has better hands.

Seguin is almost a year younger than Hall. Don't worry, he'll be a good one.

Watching the Bruins vs Oilers, or reading a good book? Chapter one....
Not watching the game. In fact unless the Canadiens are on, I don't watch hockey on Sundays period. I have center ice and could watch any game I want, but it has never appealed to me one bit.
Sunday night baseball, NASCAR, and football, no problem. Oh look it's 1-0 hehe

I watched the first period, sportsnets oiler play by play is boring, watching a horse race would have been more exciting,so watched the hawks/coyotes game,at least the sounds of the game and the announcing was 100 times better!

You know, I never even thought of this angle.
If the two were competing for the Calder trophy, I would suspect there would be a bit of hype.... but there's no chance either of them wins it, so I guess the media just wasn't too interested?

Don't get me wrong Hall or Seguin haven't had Calder seasons, but they haven't been terrible. Taylor has got 21G, 19A good for 40 PTS (an average of .634 points a game). Tylers season by comparison has been much worse at 10G, 11A for 21 PTS (.362 points a game). Now has Taylor got more playing time? Absolutely, about an average of 6 minutes a game, not to mention about 5 games more. But I think it's clear who the number 1 player in the draft should have been. Now someone was throwing around Eberle's name, just for fun his same stats are 14G, 20A for 34 PTS (average of .68 points a game) not much higher then Hall for a player who should be further ahead in his developement.

I'm inclined to think Seguin's lack of ice time is a major factor in the lack of hype surrounding him at the moment. I believe that playing for a team as good as the Bruins is a great way for Seguin to learn on the fly without having to bear the burden of carrying a terrible team, and that Boston is doing the right thing by easing him into what will eventually become a critical role with the team.
I keep drawing the same parallels, but they do apply: Joe Thornton was WAY over his head in his first NHL season. He finished with seven points in 55 games while playing about eight minutes a night. And as memory serves, that Bruins team finished fifth in the East that year, so it wasn't like they needed to lean heavily on Joe in his first season
It wasn't until his fourth season that Thornton became a point-per-game guy. Seguin's headed down the exact same path; actually, he's getting a little more time than Joe did, and putting up terrific numbers when he does play.
I won't say he'll end up being as good as Hall or Eberle when all is said and done, but I see great things in his future.

Oh no doubt, he wasn't a 2nd overall pick for no reason. A great talent that has the benefit of not having the weight of a team/city on his shoulders
