Don't disagree, at all. Nothing wrong with that.... but I think you did a nice job of pointing out the reality of the situation.

There's just nothing compelling about this matchup (going back to the orgional post). Neither is having a spectacular year (regardless of the reasons) and the "They were #1 & #2 in the draft" angle would really only be interesting this far into the season, if they were having strong seasons.

I'm inclined to think Seguin's lack of ice time is a major factor in the lack of hype surrounding him at the moment. I believe that playing for a team as good as the Bruins is a great way for Seguin to learn on the fly without having to bear the burden of carrying a terrible team, and that Boston is doing the right thing by easing him into what will eventually become a critical role with the team.

I keep drawing the same parallels, but they do apply: Joe Thornton was WAY over his head in his first NHL season. He finished with seven points in 55 games while playing about eight minutes a night. And as memory serves, that Bruins team finished fifth in the East that year, so it wasn't like they needed to lean heavily on Joe in his first season

It wasn't until his fourth season that Thornton became a point-per-game guy. Seguin's headed down the exact same path; actually, he's getting a little more time than Joe did, and putting up terrific numbers when he does play.

I won't say he'll end up being as good as Hall or Eberle when all is said and done, but I see great things in his future.

It sure is a mystery at this time to see who wins the Calder Trophy this season. I think Eberle is underrated.
