That doesn't seem like too good of an idea!

Luckily I haven't run into many dealers since I haven't tried hotel signing before. I may try and get Anthony Rendon at a Rice game soon. Maybe even this week/weekend.

Haven't sold anything autographed to anyone. Most of my in-person baseballs that are signed are not even on the sweet spot with mutiple people on the sidepanels in different pens lol. Only 3 players I got on the sweet spot singly they were Tony Fernandez, Dave Steib and Johnny Damon.
Sad to say it but I've only attempted 2 ttm's only got 1 signed card from Brian Butterfield. Kinda upset that i didn't get my Bruce Walton back cuz I have a team set I want to get signed.

The problem with selling is authentication. TTM is not 100% all the time.
The conversations I have with dealers at shows (I am not a dealer fyi) when I tell them about my autographs and how I have obtained them always comes to the authenticity. But really who is the expert on authenticity? PSA/DNA? What would the "Pawn Star" guys have to say about a TTM collection?
So with that, I do not sell anything I acquire. It goes into various collections I have and will be passed on to my kids to enjoy after I am gone! What they do with it all is up to them.

I would never sell any of my TTM or IP autos. The experiences it took to get them are priceless.

Get ready for all heck to break loose on SCF. I've been debating on if I wanted to say this for a while and now since we have a discussion going here is goes,
99% of what I get signed is available for sale.
Now before everyone jumps on me I have a pretty good perception of collecting autographs since I have been doing it for over 10 years. When I was 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 years old I HATED dealers. I hated them more than anyone can imagine. I don't know exactly why anymore, but I would get into arguments and all that with people who were dealers about what they were doing. Truth is, they weren't doing anything wrong toward me. I was just extremely jealous that they got better signatures than me because they knew what they were doing.
I always sold just a few things here and there in order to pay for stuff I really wanted. i was a total collector. Things didn't leave my collection unless I NEEDED money. Then I grew up and stopped graphing all together. I got a full-time job, got engaged, got married. It was about 5 years without graphing. Then my wife asked if I would consider getting rid of parts of my collection to make more room in the house. Seeing as I had left the hobby I didn't really care and started getting rid of stuff. That's when I saw the money. About exactly a year ago I called up my best friend who I graphed with when we were younger and we got my little brother who is 18 on board and we put about $6,000 into a bank account and bought some supplies, bats, balls, photos, whatever you'd want to get signed. Now the three of us graph in 3 different cities so we have tons of opportunities for tons of guys. The money isn't steady, but we don't do it for a living. We do it to build the business. Our balance sheet was worth $6,000 6 months ago and now it is worth over $10,000.
A lot of the dealer stereotypes are dead on with what I have encountered, but the only stereotype I meet is that I have really nice stuff to get signed and yes I keep it in my trunk during the spring because I don't how many bats, balls, etc. I will need in a day. I always had nice stuff to get signed before I was selling though. I haven't gotten a jersey signed since I started selling and I got 10 or more signed when I was collecting.
The reason I sell can be summed up by the quote from the member who posted before me.
It is the experience that are fun, I don't care about the signatures anymore. While I'm there I'm not going to watch $100 pass by though.
The people on here who have met me know that I don't push or shove or act like an ™™™. Foul balls get given to kids, extra photos are given to kids, I'll tell people where to stand, who players are. The only difference between me and the collectors is that I have the money to get nice things signed every day and instead of putting the signatures in my closet I put them in my wallet.Last edited by jyosi; 03-24-2011 at 04:15 PM.

Dont sell ever. My friend does ttm and a lot of in person, only thing Ive done is trade him an autographed puck I won on a twitter contest for an autographed baseball he had. Even swap I will never sell on ebay. When Im dead and gone my kids can sell it or keep it, up to them.

Never sell anything. Its all just for me, Ive given a couple away to family members, but 99 percent of it goes into either a card case on my wall or my autograph binder. I used to despise dealers, but now i realize that some people just do it for fun, and maybe to make a quick buck. I could never imagine myself being a dealer, I LOVE my collection, going to games and getting cards signed is just way to fun for me to ever get rid of my cards. I get a lot of my cards signed IP at Syracuse Chiefs games, and ive met so many people there that its not just getting the autographs, its getting to know the fellow autographers.

I don't sell. I have a huge collection. Two binders full of signed Yankees cards, more Yankees on balls, bats, jerseys, helmets...you name it. Plus all the Giants and Rangers stuff. My TTM collection is in binders. I have a binder for each division in baseball, one binder for AFC, one binder for NFC in football, one binder for NY Giants, one binder for NY Rangers, one binder for hockey, and one binder for basketball and misc. cards. I have a couple of binders full of 8x10's as well as some in frames. Thankfully, my wife assists in the collection. When we got an apartment she got us a house warming gift of a Joe DiMaggio signed picture which now adorns our wall. As much as I do TTM and in person graphing though, I do depend on dealers to help fill out my collection with guys I haven't been able to get. I have also been tempted to get some autographs for myself and sell dupes. Not sure if I will ever sell a card or item, but I can't say never. I can say that when I have traded with other members I have had a hard time parting with the card.
