The guy at my LCS got burned on this, not knowing that the emeralds aren't 1/1. You'd think store owners would know! He bought a Brodeur from a guy that pulled it for $75. Not sure if the guy that sold it knew it wasn't a 1/1 or not. But when I told the LCS owner he wasn't happy. He didn't believe me until I showed him the post on the ITG website.

It's been a fairly common theme the past few days. Unfortunately for those involved, not everybody has the benefit of being on the ITG mailing list or being a member of hobby sites like this to get the information to make an informed decision.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

It's a good thing Dr.Price went ahead and advised all his distributors and such as well then isn't it? He did his due diligence. After that it is the distributors and retailers responsibility to let their customers know.

I agree, but this doesn't help an individual collector that logs on to a site like eBay - if they see the listing as 1/1 and the seller puts up a scan of the back of the card that says 1/1 they're going to think it's a 1/1.
Ultimately we're all responsible to a degree to know what we're buying. It didn't take a very long time for more than 1 copy of each of the Masked Men Emerald cards to surface, which would quickly dispel the 1/1 and heighten confusion, but if that first person to put up the auction isn't aware and they list it as a BIN, and the first person to see it isn't aware, not much they can do.
It's an unfortunate error and it's going to affect people. It's commendable on the part of Dr. Price to notify as many hobby sites and people as possible, but unless he takes to the 6 o'clock news it's impossible to catch everybody.

Yes, there are others, but many of them happened prior to the internet becoming widespread, so news prints about them are hard to find. Read through the thread and you'll see a few being mentionned.
Cheers,
