Vezina Finalists: Rinne, Thomas and Luongo
Hoo boy, Rich ... I'm guessing we're going to see a nice, juicy rant in the not-too-distant future:
When it came to stopping the puck this season, Roberto Luongo, Pekka Rinne and Tim Thomas were in a class of their own.
Friday's announcement of their nominations for this year's Vezina Trophy -- awarded annually "to the goalkeeper adjudged to be the best at his position" -- comes, then, as little surprise.
Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks, Rinne from the Nashville Predators and Thomas of the Boston Bruins were the top-three finishers in goals-against average, in the top four in save percentage, and each led his team to a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Vezina Trophy Finalists Announced
Beat me to it.
I guess first in wins just doesn't mean what it used to.
No matter.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

it's more about stats and what you meant to you team. Price probably was the 4th out in on that.
So glad Rinne got a nom, he 100% deserves it.
930 Save, 2.2 gaa
wasn't for stupid schneider he would be 2nd in that catergorie also, and lets face it, for all intensive purposes he is... schenieder didn't play but like 15-20 games anyways.
No way Luongo wins that award after the way he's played in these last 2 games with a great team in front of him.
Although Pekka has a good D in front of him too...
I think it will be between Thomas and Pekka, don't see Luongo getting it. He had the wins, and the better team, but that isn't what a Vezina trophy is about.
It's about what you mean to your team, and your stats basically.
Thomas' stats are just so unreal... he's probably going to win it. Pekka plays for a very poor offense, and his stats aren't far behind tim's
who knows?

yeah I really thought Price was going to get in there... Luongo should of just missed
the canucks team record inflated him...
he has a fantastic team in front of him... very stupid
Price had about the same numbers, and played more often, and had a lesser team playing for him

Pekka is the only reason the Preds are even in the Playoffs with our terrible offense. When David Legwand is your 1st line center for most of the year you know there is a problem.

The right goalies were picked. Thomas should win it with Rinne coming in a close second.

Thomas wins hands down, but Luongo instead of Price? Nuts.
