Setback for Crosby
http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=364064
PITTSBURGH -- Sidney Crosby admits he recently had a setback and experienced symptoms during his recovery from a concussion but the Pittsburgh Penguins star isn't worried he won't be ready for the start of next season.
Crosby spoke to reporters Friday for the first time in weeks, the same day the Penguins packed up and dispersed after being eliminated from the NHL playoffs. Crosby said the reason he hasn't been on the ice for non-contact drills or practices the past two weeks was because he had experienced headaches and other symptoms.
"I started trying to ramp things up a bit as far as working out and skating, and I got a little bit of symptoms," Crosby said. "So, I had to take a step back.
"The progression had gone pretty well, but at the same time, I still wasn't ready."
Crosby hasn't played since Jan. 5, sitting out the final 48 games, including all of Pittsburgh's seven playoff games in its opening-round loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Training camp is about five months away and Crosby said he will be ready.

sad to say it but he's going to probably be at the same route that Marc Savard is

It is indeed a sad thought. I hope that he's able to be fully recovered and ready for training camp this fall. Some people may not like him, but I don't think anybody can honestly say that the NHL is better without Sidney Crosby playing.
As I've said before, the NHL MUST ban all headshots.

I strongly dislike Crosby, but I really wish he was back playing. He is good for the NHL and he is a fun player to watch. I really hope he has a long, semi-successful career and doesn't got the Savard way.

I am another who strongly dislikes Crosby but cannot do nothing but admire his skills. The league is better with him than without him!

The Penguin's getting knocked out was probably the best thing for Crosby. He can now take his time with no stress to be back in time to help the team this Season. I doubt it will be as severe as Savard, I do expect him back at the start of next season. Hate playing against him but he is great for hockey and a once in a generation player. Wish him all the best!

The scary part of all of this isn't what has already happened to Crosby -- it's the future he faces if he takes another knock to the head.
Richard laid it out quite succinctly in his superbly-written article ... these things are cumulative. It's rarely the first one that gets you, it's all the subsequent knocks you take that do the real damage. So maybe Crosby's concussion wasn't as severe as the one suffered by Marc Savard ... that doesn't mean anything if Crosby takes another head shot, whether inadvertent or intentional.
And whether cavemen like howethegreatest can wrap their minds around it or not, the NHL is better with all of its star players intact and playing well. Crosby is a worthy ambassador for the league, as talented a player you'll find and a well-adjusted person as well. Anyone who believes otherwise should spend more time following the league and less time hating on people simply for the sake of doing so.
